Any idea when the BIOS update will be available?

Ditto for me. I bought the laptop, and didn't realize that it doesn't support AHCI. Now I have to return it.

I have not seen a PC that does not support AHCI in the last 9 years.

Seriously Lenovo, get your act together.

It is incomprehensible that this laptop doesn't support Linux

I really like this 710s but finally I bought a new Inspiron 5000 series. What a pity

I bought the Laptop recently and have the same problem. Is there already a solution? Under this circumstances, I can not use the Laptop and have to take it back.

Yeah it very rare these days. Even my 7 year old Acer laptop does support it. I sent it back in the end, unfortonately because it was a very nice laptop.

I bought the laptop recently and have the same problem. Are there plans for a BIOS update? Otherwise I return the device.

I should have done some research before buying this laptop. But ive never had any problems installing linux. I need linux for some of my classes at the univeristy. Used almost all my money on this laptop, and now im stuck with an unusable hunk of metal.

Please Lenovo. Fix this. How can you sell a laptop that only supports Windows? What happened to embracing the open source community?

I was more carefull. I am subscribed to this discussion and I´ll wait one month to see if they fix it. If not I´ll have to choose another laptop to buy.

Serious developers need linux guys. :)

I really like this laptop. It has the perfect size and performance is good. Unfortunately, if it doesn't support dual boot linux, I may have to return it. I can install vm with linux, but it is running slow  :smileyfrustrated:
