Looks like they released a whole set of new drivers for almost everything for our 710S dated on 22 September 2016.

As for BIOS update, found this in their changelog:

Summary of changes
==================
General Information:
0NCN24WW:
1. PCR801957227: Update new Lenovo logo
2. PCR802139032: TPM PCR 1 value can cause security issues
3. PCR802066090: Fix DHCP misses boundary check for network packet issue
4. Update ME to 11.0.15.1003 for ME power button issue
5. Checksum: 0NCN24WW.IMC -0x54BD85F4- (by sum.exe)

EDIT: I updated my BIOS, and IMHO the "new" logo looks horrible and pixelated.. :smileymad: And yup, still no option to change to AHCI.

The 710, 900 ISK2, 900 ISK for Business, and 900S all seem to have the same problem. The issue was recently in the news, and Lenovo's press release makes it seem doubtful that they will ever fix it.

They also took the opportunity to take some swipes at Linux, and whoever wrote it was obviously in marketing, not product development or programming.

Update to TPM (secret encryption module used for Digital Restrictions Management) and and update to the Intel Management Engine, which is essentially a backdoor rootkit built into all recent Intel processors (but AMD has their version too, so what do you do?).

No Linux support.

Hi Amy,

Can you tell us if this issue is still being worked on, and also if the 900 ISK2 will be getting a BIOS patch to enable AHCI mode and properly solve the problem?

Thanks.

Didnt Richard Stallman conclude that TPM was no threat?

Considering that he and many other Free Software proponents call TPM "treacherous computing", I'm going to have to go ahead and say no.

Although I'm not allowed to advise you to return it per se because that would be going against forum rules, I can let you know that there is absolutely no ETA (a few weeks ago, we were promised a few weeks). Read between the lines...

"Therefore, we conclude that the “Trusted Platform Modules” available for PCs are not dangerous, and there is no reason not to include one in a computer or support it in system software."
