I have tried Ubuntu, Android x-86 and Chromium OS, they ahve this issue were the the display is bugged and corrupted. Looks like a BIOS issue, Lenovo should fix it in the next BIOS update.

I've just finished installing Linux Mint, which I believe is based on Ubuntu, on my Miix 310. The operating system is functioning normally with the biggest issue being a lack of wifi or bluetooth drivers. I'm not running the latest BIOS I don't think. I did disable safeboot in the UEFI, though i'm unsure if that is actually required.

I've just installed Linux Mint 18.1 Serena on my Miix 310-10ICR.
It used to have issues with graphics in my previous tries. Now I have BIOS updated (my BIOS version is Redstone 1). Now I've got graphics but it is in portrait orientation by default, ans when i rotate it 90 degrees to the right I mess up touchscreen unfortunately.
And no wifi, no audio, no bluetooth - that is what i see so far.

Short, yes you can.
Long, for the moment, this only makes sense if you have a early biosversion like 1HCN30WW on your device, with the current bios version 1HCN40WW there is a bug (i guess so) that is preventing the graphic to work proper this makes linux unusable.
