MOTO 360 2nd Gen doesn't connect to Nexus 5

Hello folks,

 

My one year+ old moto 360 2nd gen is no longer auto connecting to my Nexus 5 mobile. So literally it acts now like a digital watch rather than a smart watch.

 

I have tried resetting the watch. Removed android wear app on phone and re set-up. The only time it connects is when I go into bluetooth settings of phone and forget the watch, re-connect the watch it connects and stays for few minutes. After that it never connects even when I switch off and on the bluetooth on phone. The phone shows the watch in paired decives but doesn't connect even when it is the only known bluetooth device around the phone.

 

What other options are to be tried please/

When did it start? What is the current version of your Android Wear app? By any chance, has the watch been updated? Have you tried connecting the watch with other devices?

Not sure when it started but roughly in the last three months. Here are other details.

 

Phone - Nexus 5 running on software version 6.0.1 (Baseband version M8974A-2.0.50.2.30), build number M4B30Z

 

Watch - Moto 360 2F8Z Build number NXH19Q

Andorid wear - 2.0.0.166998750

Google play services 11.5.09 (530-164803921)

Android OS - 7.1.1

 

Any other details or logs that could help, let me know.

Hello Motto_Ella,

 

I have now removed the watch from listed phone bluetooth devices. Re-paired it, It stayed for few minutes and went off.

 

I have repaired again and this time I see it does not bring notification at all. Tried call, whatsapp message, text message and nothing pops up. The watch is not in DND mode or neither I have switched off the notifications.

 

Is there any logs that I can dig out from the watch or phone that will help rather than trying zillion of combinations of settings?

Hi Gnans

 

On your phone, please check if Bluetooth Scanning is OFF. Go to Settings > Location > tap 3 dots > Scanning > toggle OFF  Bluetooth Scanning if it is ON. You may also try resetting its network settings. Go to Settings > Backup & Reset > Network Settings reset > Reset Settings. Hope it helps.

I did the settings change and restarted the watch. The watch has gone into Checking for updates and not progressing. 

 

Searched here and tried the last response here https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTO-360-2nd-Gen-Sport/Moto-360-stuck-on-Checking-for-updates-after-factory-reset-and/m-p/3734091/highlight/true#M2136 

 

but still no luck.

 

Any suggestion?

Sorry for the delayed response. You may reset your watch to its factory default state and see if the issue is resolved. If not I recommend sending it for repair.
