Moto-360 stuck on Checking for updates after factory reset and Android Wear 2.0.

2017-07-11, 19:25 PM
Due to the many many bugs and frustrations that came along with Android Wear 2.0 I decided to try the old "Windows" fix. (Wipe and reinstall) So I reset my Moto-360 and got as far as Checking for Updates... My watch has been stuck on this screen for four hours now! Nothing including power cycling will get passed this screen. I have even tried resetting again and still only get as far as this screen

Hi Bellingham-Bob,

Have you tried resetting the watch while it is plugged in to the charger?

Hi,

I made a factory reset, due to factory reset on the phone, and I cannot complete de pairing, it gets stuck in the step after the pairing.

it says "checking for updates" both on the phone and on the watch. If I cancel it, this, by shutting down the app on the phone, and restarting the watch, it then stucks on the watch with the message "Continue configuration on the phone". However on the phone it seems ok, I can see watch status, but I have no wayto finish the configuration on the watch.

Thanks

Have you looked through the AW help & FAQ page?

I think I found out how to resolve this situation--at least it worked for me after several hours of resetting the watch. Apparently, it starts searching for updates before it has a network connection. Without the connection it never finds anything and stays in that mode. If you hold down the watch stem for about 3 seconds, it will take you to the system menu. There, you need to select wifi and add a network. Once it connects to the network it goes into overdrive and you are home free!

Thanks to all who have previously responded to this thread. It gave me a direction to a fix (at least for now).

How I managed to get it fixed:

# Switch off the watch. If you press and hold the button it will bring the system menu . Disconnect and Unpair, it will reboot and still get stuck in the same position. Now bring the menu back again and switch it off.

# Uninstall Andorid weat on phone.

# Uninstall Moto Connect (if you have) on phone.

# Go to phone settings and clear cache.

# Reboot phone

# Install Android wear

# Switch on Moto 360 watch and pair it.

# You will be able to connect to a WiFi source during the pairing and sign in to your account.

This made me to progress further from getting stuck on the "Checking for updates" option.
