moto 360 2 turns off at 60% battery

2017-05-08, 16:01 PM

I have my watch for about 1.5 years. A few months ago (a new android wear update released around the same time) my watch started to turn off when it reached 30% battery. I tought this was an issue caused by the update, but now my watch begins to turn off at 60%. When i put it on the charger, it begins to charge at around 62%. Is there are problem with the sotfware or is it a faulty battery? anything i can do to fix this?

Hi el-marcus,

Have you tried to reset your watch? If so, did you see improvements?

Yes i have tried multiple factory resets but there is no improvement, now the watch begins to turn off at 68%. I had hoped that maybe Android wear 2.0 would fix the problem but nothing has changed.

Re: moto 360 2 turns off at 60% battery

I second this. I've had this watch the same amount of time, a year and half. The last update that was pushed before AW 2.0 came out is when I started having this problem.

My watch is slowly losing the ability to calculate how much battery is actually left and how long it has before running out of juice.

After the February or April update (maybe earlier, it was a 1.5 patch) installed, i had my watch suddenly die on me mid-afternoon. It usually lasts the entire day but i had not had it on the charger very long earlier that morning. I want to say the watch was advertising around 90% charged when i took it off the cradle and went to work. After it died, i tried to power it back on and had to long press on the side button for what seemed like 10-15 seconds before it responded with the fastboot screen with options to reboot normally or load up recovery. Right above the menu options at the fastboot screen was red text that said battery level LOW. Went about my business and got home a few hours later and set it in the cradle. It immediately booted up and went into desk clock mode which reported that the watch was at 80% charge. It took a couple of hours to get it to 100%. Next time i put it on, it was at 100% and seemed to stay there for awhile. Half-way through the day, i look at the battery and it was at 93%. Android Wear on the phone estimated i had 4 days left of battery. By the time the watch got down to 82%, it was dead. Put it in the cradle, it booted and said it had 83% battery charge.

AW 2 gets pushed down to it. I was hoping maybe it would clear the issue. It's only gotten worse. The minimum amount of charge to keep the watch on is now up to 93%. I have a feeling that eventually it will always report 100% charge and I'll never be able to gauge battery usage again. It might be full, it may be 5 seconds away from not being able to turn on, who knows?

I did a watch unpairing/reset when the issue first arose, no change. I did another reset just last week, no change. Don't get me wrong, my issue isn't that the battery is charging and discharging at an unacceptable rate (the watch doesn't seem to last as long as it did before the upgrade but it can still get me through an entire day).

Its just that my battery scale is shot. 93% now means 0-13%.

Any ideas?

I'll post some Android Wear pictures showing the battery having 7 days of battery left when it charges (it died on me as i walked in the house)So here it is after 6 hours off the charger. 96% after half a day! Ha,I know better, it's actually around 50% - 60%.

Same issue here. It now dies at about 25%. When I put it on the charger, it starts charging at 25%.

Before AW2.0, it lasted all day.

So here's the final battery usage pic. I took it off the cradle at 10AM, it's now 12AM and it's still alive. Here's what the battery stats read:

I've had my 2nd gen just under 2 years and started experiencing a similar issue (only holds a charge for about 5 hours) a couple of months ago but assumed the battery needed replacing. It's never lasted days at a time as advertised but I was happy with getting through my day, and putting it on the charger and night. Other forums say to replace the battery is about $100, a jeweler will for about $25 but the device is only good for about 2 years anyway and should just be replaced ($350 every 2 years is ridiculous and I won't do it). After reading these comments now I'm not sure what the problem is but hoping for a happy ending.

both I and a work colleague have had thus watch for 18 months. and we are also having the same problem. after numerous resets and pairing. looking at other sites this seems to be a massive problem. has anyone actually had the answer?
