Battery Life...

2014-11-11, 23:16 PM

I just received a Moto360 on 20141109 and  I instinctively checked to make sure the the display's ambient mode was off and lowered the brightness to the lowest level; I also turned off (as much as it can be to my knowledge) the heart monitor and pedometer.

So, with my first go I expected the battery to last at least a the day easily, based off the review i have read and watched on it(They all seem to state 10-14 hours on a full charge with Full Heavy Use).

But, the battery died after 6 to 6.5 hours(very disappointing), this happened my first two full charges(I am currently on the third charge so I cannot report on that yet).

Today I figured out how to turn off FB notifications and Google maps(which I did not use the first charge, the second charge I did well it did automatically) and I read on here that muting the watch will save battery life too.

So, my question:

  1. Should I be expecting more life, is my battery short changing me like i believe it to be doing?

  2. Does muting my watch stop all notification or just the vibrating of it?

I am currently running 4.4W.2

I took my 360 off the changer this morning at 7:15am. I rebooted it, and right now, at 7:45pm I'm sitting at 50% battery.

I think that is pretty good. I have not disabled anything, but I have not installed any apps, other the slumber app, which has nothing to do with battery life.

I have all notifications turned on, and listen to music most of the day.

What apps do you have installed?

Thanks,

J

All stock plus a random one called "pitch perfect"(pitch pipe app) here is my list of apps under "start" on my phone

  1. Fit

  2. Heart Activity

  3. Hear Rate

  4. Pitch Perfect

  5. Play Music (Google)

So far today, its doing a lot better, I think.  I am at 77% and have been wearing using it since around 13:10, it is now 1730.

I unmuted it  a little bit ago because I did seem to be getting notifications at all, but I cannot confirmed that yet

Oh!  I also have the "Secret Agent" watch face App installed :c)  (From the N64 game 007 Golden Eye)

One thing I would try would be uninstall that watch face as the rest sounds like my list of apps. I also get slightly below 50% after the last update on my watch before going to bed.

hmm, well after the changes I made today, that I listed above my battery is working a lot better.

Today I had it on for 9+ hours and it was in the 60's%.

I will report back on it after some more field testing.  today I was home all day.

Other things that seem to make a difference are light settings:

I have ambient off and auto brightness off (set to 2) - I see about 50% battery usage from 5:45 am until 9:30pm

Yes, I did all of that too, I set mine to level "1"

So, today I realized I have forgotten to mention that I had debug over bluetooth and I think that is what drained my battery.

Today I wore it for 8 hours and it only went down to 72%!

so I am going to try and turn on my heart and pedometer and see how that works.

thanks for all the replys, and I will update you on my my adding in heart and pedometer to the tasks.

How much did you play with it?  A new device it's natural to fuss with it more.  Installing and uninstalling apps is BRUTAL on the battery on this device.

Once you get past that phase though it's pretty good.  I'm on 16 hours off charge with 41% still remaining.  I would consider today a moderate day, primarily with texting and LOTS of notifications.  I have nothing turned off.  If you use one of the stock watch faces instead of an aftermarket will be huge.  Aftermarket faces, even the good ones (Facer and WatchMaker) hit the battery pretty hard.

Yep - I was messing with this feature as well, it keeps an active BT bridge up between your watch and phone and it definitely drains the battery quickly.

Seems like you have your 360 sorted out. Enjoy!

Re: Battery Life...

Thank you everyone for the help with my battery.

I use everything except I blocked Google Maps and FB

I still have the secret agent face it is fun and useful. the yellow bars are the phone battery and the blue is the watch battery

My watch can go all day no problem. It out lasts my phone, I think it is about equal with two phone batteries.

its great i am lovin' it.

I just want it to let me read my text messages, its weird it can do everything else:

  1. answer decline calls

  2. read emails

  3. read hang outs

  4. can basically voice command everything commonly used

I like that i can text from it, but not read received texts?  Just odd.

Anyone know why?  should I be starting a new thread for this?
