Moto 360 2nd Gen screen issue

2016-07-10, 16:21 PM

Yesterday my Moto 360 2nd generation has started acting up. I've tried hard restart and charging it. According to my Samsung Note 5, the watch is paired through Bluetooth. It appears to be getting all of the notifications as I can hear and feel it vibrating when ones goes through. I can also push watch face changes to the watch through my phone...although I can't see them clearly at all. I have attached a photo and a video link.

Does anyone have a clue what is wrong?

By the way, the watch has never been exposed to water...other than the sweat from my wrist. And it is about 8-9 months old and running the latest version of software.

Thanks is advance for the help.

I had similar bug in sport version - holding power button for 25 s - 1 min fixed that. Also you need to turn off bluetooth on phone and do a factory reset by npairing the phone.

Re: Moto 360 2nd Gen screen issue

I wish I had some advice. Maybe it is get a replacement, sell it and buy something non-Moto. As a former loyal Motorola cutomer, I am very unhappy with Levonorola a.k.a. Moto. I see you are experoencing the same displeasure as me.

I am on my second Moto 360 Gen 2.

1st one worked well until June. Screen beecame unresponsive to touch. Power cycle fixed for a few minutes. Moto replaced.

2nd one is acting up as of yesterday (I had a couple of flawless weeks). Yesterday screen again unresponsive. Power cycled. Seemed Ok.

Moments ago as I rotated my wrist, screen lit up for a second, it buzzed and screen goes dark. Very fast, Same if I touch the screen. I powerd down the phone and left it off. Power cycled the watch... same issue.

Factory reset? Again??? And also reset my phone so I can spend hours restoring everything? Come on now. This is rediculous. These things are junk.

I am so close to selling the Droid Turbo 2, Moto 360 Gen 2 combo on eBay and going Samsung..... Never thought I'd say that!

Hello Moto? You are not making me happy. I am NOT paying one cent and I fully expect this one to be replaced immediately. This is strike 2. Third pitch results???

I spoke with Tech Support and Customer Service. They have offered to do Advanced Replacement for free. We'll see how the 3rd Moto 360 Gen 2 works... I ordered a Fitbit Alta but will miss the heartrate function. Only one wearable will win the battle. Which will end up on eBay? Stay tuned...

This is NOT a broken LCD. I too have the gorgeous black Moto 360 Gen 2 and it is now worthless because... the battery has apparently "expanded" inside the watch and is touching the screen causing the problem you see. If I drain the watch to no battery it will sometimes show a watch face perfectly when starting to charge up and then eventually have the same problem you're having.

I'm told the only thing to do is replace the battery, which should have been a painless process on the *second* iteration but apparently is not at all. Plus I didn't know who to contact and I'm told that this design defect is not covered by warranty, meaning it may cost you $100+ just to get the battery replaced - which doesn't actually need replacing other than the defect because my battery life was excellent at the time the problem occurred.

I even have the original box. It's in perfect condition with a screen protector. Yet there is this problem. A shame as it's a gorgeous watch.
