QUESTION: Advanced exchange repair without the original band?

I've had my Moto 360 2nd gen since it was released. The band, unfortunately, was completely falling appart due to normal wear and tear, so a couple months ago I replaced it with a really nice looking metal one. Now, as discussed in this topic, my batter is horribly out of sync, and badly degraded. I'm eyeing Motorola's advanced exchange repair program. Unfortunately, it says that when I get the new unity, I need to return the original band with my old one. Can I return it without the band and just pay a penalty? And if so, does anyone know how much that would be?
