2016-12-22, 19:02 PM

I am having an issues with Moto E touch screen. Only the return button works. The home button is non responsive. Also the notification bar does not deploy. I tried re-booting, but this has not resolved the issue.

Hi Alan1951,

Since notification bar and keys are not working, I suggest doing a factory reset as this may resolve these issues.

Many thanks. Is this the only solution, as I will lose all downloaded data/apps.

At this point solution is unknown.

if it is a hardware issue, it will be reset when you send it in.

You can try safemode or clear cache but if neither works a reset is next step. It is likely you will end up doing a reset, so you should have your data backed up. Apps can be downloaded again.

Here are some great troubleshooting videos that cover safe mode, cache clear, and factory reset. Try these suggestions and let us know

I am pretty sure the video above had a method for external reset, but here is written instructions https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/103917/p/30,6720,9299

if you have android m and a pin, you will need to log into your google account - make sure you havent reset your password recently or you will be locked out for 72 hours.

Greetings: I have similar problem w/ a Moto E2. Screen asst replaced by shop. Unit's touch is sluggish in view area. Bottom 3 buttons nearly non-responsive. BACK has no response, HOME has no response. MINIMIZE has to be massaged a bit. Keyboard touch is off from letters. Display also looks looks dim and has green tint. I have another E2 to compare. Is there a digitizer or screen alignment procedure?

no alignment i know of on modern phones. You should have the shop that did the work fix it.

Re: Motorola E 2nd Gen touch screen issue

Greetings Mr Alpha Dog: Thx 4 Ur reply. The unit was taken 2 a shop 4 screen, digitizer, Etc replacement. 2 Wks later they said "the part came in defective and would have 2 send back and wait 4 another. Month and half later they said unit was ready. Upon pick up I inspected and said the screen protector was not clear. It has a green tint also the bottom of the touch pad was non-responsive. The rest was sluggish and off target...not aligned. He said he would have 2 get another part and advise when 2 bring it back. I'm figuring it was some junk Chinese parts and not Motorola. Such a shame the parts from Motorola cost more than the unit cost and is worth. I have another E2 I can use as parts. I was told The display Assy cannot B removed w/out damaging the Assy.
