Moto E4 software update

2018-04-18, 16:59 PM

My Moto is not updating to new software update from past month. Can someone tell if received the update on the reteu channel. Or maybe the update has been stopped ? I see no any other threads for the new software.

Hi kkkirilov,

Which update are you referring to? Is it a security update? Or are you perhaps referring to Android Oreo update? If you are referring to Oreo update, the Moto E4 will not get it.

Is your serial number/IMEI number updated on your profile? I can have someone take a look and see if you are on the latest software build for your software channel.

Regards,

JM

Hi kkkirilov,

Thanks for posting. May I know what is the current version of your operating system? Moto E4 will only remain to Nougat. We don't have any advice yet if Moto E series will be upgraded to OS higher than Nougat version.

My current build number is NMA26.42-113. The security level is October 5 2017. On webpage of Moto E4 is written there is a newer version with security level from January 05 2018.

Hi kkkirilov,

Thanks for the response. The security update/software update actually varies from your country and your carrier. Based on your build number I can see it's running the latest Nougat version.

hello, I have the system security update notification. Thing is I click on it to update, it goes through the motions, download then install, it reboots, but then I get

"update unsuccessful".

I tried it on just wifi, then I tried with my data on and phone fully charged

Moto E4   7.1.1

IMEI: remove

thanks

Hi MauW,

Thanks for posting on this thread. Are you using a SIM card? If not, kindly try using a SIM card, remove your SD card in case you have one. Perform factory data reset without restoring back up then check for System Update via Settings.

Factory Data Reset:
Settings > System > Reset options > Factory Reset
Backup your important files before doing the reset

Let me know. Thanks.

hello,

thank you for replying.

I don't have a SD card in., I think there's only the SIM from Boost.

So do I just do Factory Reset?

I've never had to do this before

Thanks

Hi MauW,

Thanks for your response. Can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me check if you have the latest software. Please make sure that the options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

See here for the instruction.
