I have no password on my phone and now it requires me to swipe up to unlock (Android 5.1)

2017-11-29, 5:26 AM

My phone oddly reset the other day.  I had no password, pin etc. When I press the display button the side of Moto E 2nd gen phone it now requires me to swipe up to open.

What happened?

Hi All,

We can confirm that this is working as designed, there is no None option. However, you might have had Smart Lock Settings enabled to bypass the lock screen or maybe they had power button set to never lock the phone.

Hi Castaa,

What kind of reset, is it a factory reset or just a normal restart? Check SettingsSecurity > Screen lock> switch to None.

The option is gone.

I'm not sure why my phone reset. It looked like it was back somehow to it's default settings. I had just used the phone normally 5 mins earlier.  Very odd.  I rebooted the phone and my settings returned to normal but the lock feature does not have the None option it had earlier.

Hi All,

Your issue is weird. Do you have corporate accounts on your phones? Please, share some screenshot of the page in SettingsSecurity > Screen lock>Options available.

My phone is stock android 5.1.  It has not been rooted nor is it running any special lock screen software.

Note that the 'none' option is missing from the list.  It's very odd what happened, I agree.  The phone operates normally otherwise.  No other weird behavior.

I assume Motorola pushed out a patch to the OS or something?  I checked my updated app and nothing was updated related to the lock screen.

Thanks for the screenshot. Can you verify if you have corporate accounts on your phones?

I'm not sure what that is.  It was not given to me by any business.  I bought it at Target.  It's stock Android in everyway I know of.

Would you please update your profile with the serial/IMEI/MEID number of your phone? Is it okay if we look at your apps? This will help us investigate. Make sure that your Motorola Privacy is enabled.>Update your profile here
