No Full Data Reset Protection in Moto G2.

2016-04-09, 7:59 AM

Why Motorola didn't implemented Full Data Reset Protection in Moto G2 Marshmallow update. Its already being implemented since Android 5.1.

Why Moto team skipped such a big security feature for G2.

Can anybody clarify why Moto team didn't implemented and will they implement in next update?? Its Such a BIGGEST SECURITY FEATURE ADDED by GOOGLE, in 5.1+.

I understand concern that It may vary by region, Like Phone being Sold in California must have this feature on phone being build or shipped after July 1, 2015 and phone which are being upgraded to 5.1+ must have this feature still we G2 user lacking this IMPORTANT FEATURE.

If your phone has 5.1, it has this feature.  Motorola didn't add it or take it away, Google decided what version has it.

Do do you have 5.1? if so,why do think it is not present?

Sir, we all know this is Moto G2 Group, and Motorola Didn't provided 5.1 update and Phone shipping with Android 5.1+ or being updated from previous version must have FDR protection enabled. I will provide Android CDD and Motorola own Statement regarding this soon.

And Moto skipped 5.1 and gave 6.0 directly still we didn't get this security feature.

If you have 6.0, you have this. Why do you think you do not?

the feature first appeared in 5.1.

Sir, I checked all method, its not available in Moto G2 in Marshmallow update also. I tried Resetting phone via Recovery, it didn't asked for Google authentication, Tried resetting via Fastboot command as well, that also didn't asked. Whereas in Moto G3 it asks for Google authentication. Can Moto team or somebody look into this??

And I'm not only ine in whose Moto g2 this feature is not available, all my colleagues using G2, I asked them all, they also don't have this Security Feature.

Are you talking about the Device Protection feature? If so, it seems like I have it. Didn't test resetting, but when I try to disable my PIN lock it warns me about turning off device protection. Pretty weird that you wouldn't have it. I have the LTE model, so maybe the poster above me is right about this being only on LTE models? If so that would be extremely dumb...

EDIT: according to this article we may only have partially implemented device protection, whatever that may mean
