MOTO G 2nd Gen - Unresponsive touch

After switching to auto-rotate (as I have done many time before), my newly bought MOTO G 2nd Gen XT1036 (Global) touch screen has become suddenly unresponsive and displays the lock screen.

I still receive all notifications, it alarms, when I plug in the charger the icon changes to show that it is charging, the lock screen still rotates depending on how I hold the phone...everything else seems to work apart from the touch.

Yes: I have updated to the latest version of Android OS available (Lollipop )

No: 1.The phone has never fallen

      2.It has never gotten wet

      3. It has not been rooted

      4. I have never experienced touch problems before

Please advise.

Is the touchscreen also unresponsive in safe mode?https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/99932/p/30,6720,9151...

Thanks for your reply

To Enable Safe Mode

1.  Press the Power key

2.  Touch and hold Power off

3.  Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears

The screen is unresponsive so I cannot "touch"

Re: MOTO G 2nd Gen - Unresponsive touch

I had to wait until the battery died (Since I couldn't even touch "Power Off" to turn off the phone, built in battery so I couldn't do a battery pull)

After it died I began to charge it, as soon as it was charged enough to boot up, I pressed the power button it booted up and now the touch works again!

If anyone experiences the same problem, probably this is a solution? (although a very, very, very long one....depending on how much battery is left on your device)

Thanks for the replies.

Re: MOTO G 2nd Gen - Unresponsive touch

touch screen has become suddenly unresponsive

If your phone becomes unresponsive frozen or with a black screen, 'hard reset' the phone by holding the power key pressed until the phone turns off. Then you can restart the phone.

Pressing and holding the power key performs the same function as removing and reinserting the battery.

Re: MOTO G 2nd Gen - Unresponsive touch

Even holding the power key for an extended time should cause the phone to reboot - that is how other moto phones work.

Re: MOTO G 2nd Gen - Unresponsive touch

if you still have issues, you may want to try a reset - after exhausting other possibilities - but we will hope that this was a one time occurrence.

Re: MOTO G 2nd Gen - Unresponsive touch

I have MotoG 2nd generation. I also faced the same issue 4-5 times and resolved this way only. I wait till the battery die and then reboot it.
