missing cut, copy, paste option.

Its become lot easier if we have cut, copy and paste option in dial pad, contact and messages. Missing these options after Lollipop update on my moto g2 device.

Re: missing cut, copy, paste option.

In Kitkat it was tap and hold - that doesn't work for you?

Re: missing cut, copy, paste option.

Works in Lollipop on my X2, but that's not proof it's working on the G2.

Re: missing cut, copy, paste option.

Hi Srikanthshinde,

Please tap on the contact. Once you are on it, tap and hold over the contact until you see "copy" option. It should work.

Keep us posted!

Re: missing cut, copy, paste option.

In Contacts and Messages, the cut, copy and paste is present.

In dialer, after pressing some random numbers and tapping and holding on it, only "paste" option is shown. No cut or copy.

I am not sure this is a bug - I would guess the thought is this:

In the dialer you are going to do one of 2 things:

  1. Paste a number you copied from some other place in the system

  2. Input a number using the dial pad

If you paste a number into the dialer, there should be no reason to cut or copy. If you type the number in, then you must know it or be reading it, so you could type it somewhere else on the phone. Or you would type/paste into a contact first, and then paste it into the dialer.

What is the use case for needing copy and cut in the dialer?

I am guessing that google decided to keep the screen clear and just offer the paste option.

Re: missing cut, copy, paste option.

Which phones? Are they running stock Android?

I still don't understand the use case completely. Some additional details would be helpful.

If you enter in a number manually and modify it, you can save to a contact.

If you copy it from elsewhere in the system, you would want to modify it there permanently - such as in a contact, so why not modify it there first.

It may be inconvenient for some, but I see it as thoughtful design. It is rare that I would enter a series of digits in the dialer, and want to paste it somewhere else after the fact. I always want to paste into the dialer though.

Re: missing cut, copy, paste option.

I am having the same problems as everyone else. Being a business person I sometimes screen the number of whoever called and cut, copy and paste into Google search to find who it was that called. However I cant do this now.

Somebody must know how to rectify this.
