Moto G3 USB Issues

2016-09-25, 13:02 PM

Hello there,

I've got a Moto G3 for a little less then a year now and there's one major problem I have:

I can only charge it when it is turned off and it then only charges very slowly (takes 5+h to fully charge!).

Once it started to charge and I turn it on it will keep charging. But when I disconnect it from the cable it still thinks that it is charging although it is not (you can see the battery percentage go down).

I also can't connect it to any other device (for example my PC or Notebook).

What I've tried so far:

  • doing a factory reset
  • updating my pc's usb drivers
  • changing the charger and usb-cable

I am really desperate and already tried to send it in, when it suddenly started working again for about a week. But after I forgot to charge it until it turned off one day, the bug reappeared.

Does anyone around here have a clue? I've done a lot of research about it myself and haven't found a solution or the cause of it yet (I believe it's some kind of android bug).

Thank you to anyone who tries to help.

The charger that you are using can probably only charge at 0.5Amp or 500mA.

Never discharge all the power on your phone before recharging.
I think the lowest should be 20% or 40% but definitely not zero or near to zero.

I think that Moto G 3rd Gen. should have a feature to light-up orange when down to 30% I think it is: I'm still using Lollipop 5.1.1 for the moment.

Computer's USB 5 volt will only charge at 0.5Amp but the charger and battery I recommend will charge up to 1.5 Amps (3 times as fast)= 5 Hours /3 = about 1 Hr 40 mins (think). Keep external battery charged up and phone

- you won't notice the time to charge up, especially when you are charging when not using the device

- in your pocket rucksack on your desk or table etcetera.

If you allow a phone to be fully discharged it is similar if a car's battery becomes flat, difficult to charge a flat battery: find the lead, a car etcetera instead of just turning a key or pressing a button to start the car.

Buy the latest upgrades because I purchased mine in 2015:
I use RAVPower's;
https://www.ravpower.com/6-port-usb-wall-charger-black-.html

https://www.ravpower.com/16000mah-portable-charger-power-bank-black.html

I did a much detailed reply but a bug on the forum deleted my post.

The chargers which you are using probably only have a speed of 0.5mA or probably doesn't have intelligent charging etcetera.
