SD card problem

2017-06-19, 12:39 PM

Im having issues that my sd card unmounts automatically in my moto g3 phone and I have to remove it and then put in again ...And I think it might corrupt my data if this continues please tell what kind of problem I'm facing and suggest a solution.

And sometimes when I watch some videos stored in my sd card and playing some specific videos it unmounts.

Please advise.

That is usually an indication that the card has some data corruption or physical issue.

I would do 2 things:

1. only use a card as external portable storage

2. backup your data on card, reformat, and try again. If it behaves the same, get a new card.

Tried formatting the sd card and changing it but the problem is still there and also this problem happens to be in my friend's moto g3 too.

Is there any software issue in moto g3 phones ?

I've not had any software issues with my device.  Perhaps read this on how to set up & use the SD Card properly?

Motorola / Android SD Card Set Up

You question is also a bit vague as we don't know how you have set up your device or SD card, what apps you use, what permissions have been granted to apps, what apps are running in the background, how much RAM is left, etc., etc.. There are SO MANY possiblities. You could also try clearing Cached Data regularily & the Partition Cache once in a while.

It could also be an SD card compatability issue, so you may have to try several cards. I have no issues with a SanDisk Ultra HC I Class 10 32 GB card, now 2-3+ years old.

HI - I have been having the exact same problem with my moto g 3rd gen ever since I bought it in may. The SD card will read for awhile but then is unmounted and the phone no longer recognizes it. I bought a second SD card which is exactly the SanDisk Ultra mentioned. It worked for a couple of weeks but one morning I turned it on and it had unmounted and the phone will not recognized it again no matter what I do. It was formatted as internal storage.

This is a known problem that IBM/Lenovo/Motorola can't or won't fix.  For 13 pages of discussion on this problem, visit this thread:

Bottom line: Moto G3 is a bad product.  Sorry.  We're all in the same boat.

I have a workaround that saved my card and my data. Stable for now, and curious if this solution works well for other.

Solution there : https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTO-G-3rd-Gen/SD-Card-Missing-Please-Reinsert/m-p/3751841#M9407
