Moto G Ear piece distorted

2015-05-03, 10:01 AM

Hi,

I am new to this forum and wondered if anyone could assist.

I have had a Moto G 16gb for around a year now and have been very happy with it. recently I have noticed that the ear piece was very distorted....I only noticed how bad it was after being issued a new HTC at work and the sound of peoples voices is crystal clear.

The speaker has been replaced , and I have disabled the equalizer and audio effects but alas no change.

My Android version is Lollipop 5.0.2

Please help!

Kind regards

Martyn

Have you tried safe mode? Have you tried a reset without restoring any apps?

Safe mode is easy, and you won't lose data.  Press the hardware power button to see the power off screen. Then tap and hold the power off software button, a new screen should appear asking if you want to restart in safe mode. Say yes.

To return to normal mode, just restart your phone again as normal.

That should confirm a hardware issue. But you will need to backup your data. Also, do not restor any apps, so don't  log into google. Skip Google setup initially.

Yes, reboot into normal mode then bacjkup SMS with 3rd party tool. If audio is still an issue, then repair is probably needed.

It depends on your region and where you bought the phone. In the USA if you buy phone from carrier, they usually just ship a replacement and you put your old phone in a box and send it back when you get the replacement. If you bought directly from moto the same can happen if you provide a cc number.  In other regions, you may have to take it to a moto authorized service center.

Some retailers like car phone warehouse may handle replacements. If unsure, contact your place of purchase or moto customer support.
