Re: AT&T device: carrier unlock not available

2015-12-02, 22:12 PM

Yes, my AT&T phone is in fact prompting for a network unlock PIN even with an AT&T sim.  So if you don't think an unlock code will work, is there anything else that might fix it, or should I just give up on this phone?

On Nov. 24 I forwarded email I received from AT&T to supportforums @ motorola . com.  It included my case # and said:

We cannot complete your request for one of the following reasons:

  • This device is no longer actively supported

  • There is no unlock code available for this device

Let me know if there's a different email address to use.

Thanks,  JCM57

Let me check around... i wonder if your phone is locked in a different way... if you try to unlock with wrong pin to many times it is possible to permanently lock the phone... But you would see a message indicating it is hard locked.

Talking about sim/network unlock. Not possible to unlock bootloader on AT&T.

That is nice. But this thread has nothing to do with that. You should buy a different phone that can be unlocked, and ask on other forums. We can't discuss ROM here. Try xda.

Hey AlphaDog,

Any luck finding any out-of-the-ordinary way to unlock my AT&T Moto X, which prompts me for an unlock PIN even with an AT&T sim.  It's possible my daughter tried to unlock it with the wrong PIN too many times, though it's strange we don't get a message telling us that's the case.  If that's the issue, do I have a WI-FI-only brick?  Could it most likely be fixed by swapping in the motherboard from another Moto X?  (I have one with a cracked screen.)

Thanks,  JCM57
