Received an OTA update to my 1st gen Moto X

2016-05-17, 14:45 PM

This morning I received an OTA update to 222.201.1.  Assume it's just a security update, has anyone seen release notes?  After update the phone still shows 5.1 Lollipop with an Android security patch level of 2016-04-01.

Hi Diggs,

I am sincerely sorry for the issue with the phone, could you please try to reboot your device? To reboot the device, press and hold the power key for 10 seconds. Have you tried Safe Mode, and see if it works? Please, Go to settings > Apps > All > tap on Gmail app > tap Force Stop, and Clear cache. Please let me know if it helps. Thanks

Best regards,

Suny

I'd also like to get this reported to our engineers. Can you please update your forum profile to include the IMEI of your device. Also, please let me know if it's okay for me to share your IMEI information with our engineers.

Received the security update this morning and all seems to be fine.  I have a Verizon XT1060, but I'm not using it on Verizon; instead I'm using it on Google Fi with a data-only SIM.

I too received a notification yesterday night but it keeps restarting in a loop. Does anyone have a zip file of the OTA files so that I can update it manually by going into recovery mode?

XT1053. Got the update and no issues to far. I'm pleasantly surprised that Motorola didn't forget about the 1st gen X and released this security update. And with that, Motorola is back on the short list of manufacturers I will consider for my next phone.

XT1053 on T-Mo.  Just got the update today.  No issues so far, and the Stagefright detectors now say I'm not vulnerable.  But they still didn't fix the 20-30 second delay with no visual/tactile feedback when powering on with a 2-second press of the power button while connected to power.  If I hold the power button until I get feedback, it goes through the loooooooooong optimize sequence.  I wish they'd fix that, too!

It might be my imagination, but I THINK I have to press the power button longer than I used to before it powers up when NOT connected to external power.  If I hold the power button down til I get feedback when NOT connected to external power, it does NOT go through the optimize sequence.

The only truly stupid question is the one you SHOULD have asked - but DIDN'T.
