Battery Problems Again....20% in an hour and count

2015-03-17, 13:09 PM
So its happening again this morning again. I finally got some screen shots. As soon as I get to work my device gets really hot and drains like crazy. Over 20% in an hour! I need an expert to look into this. Is anyone else having this problem? I have seen a few similar questions on here. My phone was in my pocket at my dear where I have 3 or 4 bars usually. Not sure why signal is orange. I have already factory reset, cleared cache etc. Got to be the system or os.

Have you tried doing a factory reset? If you haven't I would recommend that, it could be that one of your apps is going rogue, and draining your battery.

From what I see in the picture, you are on WiFi, so the poor cellular signal isn't going to be my first guess at bad battery since the phone isn't checking constantly for a better signal. But keep in mind, poor cellular signal makes your phone's battery drain faster since it must constantly find coverage when not on WiFi. My concern is the "Awake" activity vs screen on time. Especially at the very end. Something seems to have triggered a wake lock and dropped your battery by 15% very quickly. Have you tried "Safe Mode" to rule out apps that's could be doing it? If it's a system, or OS bug that can't be resolved a factory wipe might be the answer.

Yes I have done a factory reset and it did not fix the problem. I am just walking into work and it always does it when I get to work. Not at home, not going home from work, nowhere else. Just when I come to work. I have not tried safe mode yet. How do you get in to it and what do I do while in it?? That would only tell me if its a rogue app right?? What if its a system app?? Can't do anything about that. The only thing that is changing is my location and I guess wifi when I get to work. Could it somehow be the wifi??? The phone gets VERY Hot and drains like you said above. Only has done it on 5.0.2 not on kitkat.

Is there any specific app related to your work profile? Like work related email? It is possible that some app triggers a sync using your wifi at work. Check out the sync settings which are related to your wifi at work or completely turning off auto sync. And one more question, have you encrypted the device by chance?

Safe mode can be enable by pressing the Power button to turn off your device then pressing a d holding Power Off till you get the option to boot into safe mode. And yes it would be an option to see what non system apps could be causing issues. If the WiFi at your job isn't giving consistent strength, yes, it would be the same as cellular signal trying to connect in a weak area.

Grubber...Not that I know of. I don't have any specific rules for my work email or anything work related. I did turn off my wifi and waited to see what happened and everything cooled down and phone seems to be running normal.

What is that Exchange services? Could it be that it was syncing and the wifi was not allowing it? Then it will go rogue if that happens. Turning off wifi allowed it and thereby its syncing and appearing in the battery chart. Just a speculation!
