Re: Moto X 3rd Generation

2015-04-01, 13:04 PM

I'm just going to be repeating what a lot of other people have already said.

1. Wireless Charging - that is the thing I miss most from my Galaxy S4

2. BETTER CAMERA - the camera on the 2nd gen is miserable - even worse in low light.

3. Expandable storage

4. Dual front facing speakers

5. Start at 64gb, drop the 16 and 32 models. Memory is so cheap now, and the next gen is cheap and way fast.

6. it may be gimmicky to some, but IR was fun and useful at times.

7. waterproof - IP67

8. HIRE BETA TESTERS TO TEST FOR BUGS.  5.0 on the Pure Edition sucks.  How this version was released is beyond me. Obviously soak tests don't work so well.

I definitely agree with storage costs.

I just bought a 32gb SD car for $18, yet the 32GB upgrade was $50 MORE THAN THE 16GB! That doesn't mean the memory was $50, that means it is whatever price they included in the phone for the 16GB PLUS the $50 to upgrade to what I had in my iPhone 3GS.

Not acceptable!

I would be much happier if 64GB was the standard and 128GB an upgrade, but I just doubt Motorola will come to their senses that quickly given the entire industry's reluctance to charge a fair price for storage. That's probably why they've all but phased out SD Card slots. Why include a port so your customers can buy that 64GB expansion when you can charge them a RIDICULOUS $100 premium!

Easy answer - support volume buttons on headphones.  Samsung does this with Android already, so why not Moto?  Yeah, yeah, I know the phone has physical volume buttons.  But if you're exercising and your phone is in an armband, sometimes it's a little awkward to use those buttons.

Re: Moto X 3rd Generation

I think it would be great for Motorola to keep thinking outside the box. Little additions to the Moto app would be great. Here is a list of items that I would like to see, beyond the usual spec related items.

- Slow charge - the opposite of Turbo charging. If we can keep the temp of the battery down, it will last longer. I am not sure if this is possible at the software level, but something where we can limit the power of the charge would be nice. So, something where you can set a charge time, say 8hrs (while you sleep), and the phone can set the charge power accordingly to keep the heat down, and preserve the battery life.

- Shake action - we already use the double wrist flick, and will be using the chop action in 5.1, why not create a user defined action? When I shake the phone it does " - - - -" and let the user launch fb, or maps or whatever.

- faster response time between Moto voice recognition and google now action

- find a better flash solution for the camera: the dual flash ring causes red eye all the time

- create a share across networks option - user can define how to share specific items. so photos you can share across fb, twitter, instagram etc in 1 share button. Video, maybe just instagram and vine in 1 share button. User defined.

The latest and greatest processor available at launch.

5" 4k amoled

Larger battery

32g memory minimum, and as much ram as possible

External memory would be nice, but it's absence wouldn't be a deal breaker

Metal back options

Better camera

Stereo speakers on the front

wireles charging

Fingerprint scanner in dimple

USB 3.0 charging port

Android marshmallow in launch ;)

I wouldn't mind a thicker device if all this was included. As long as it's the same build quality and similar styling. I can dream.

Well my comment was all nice and lasted out like a list. But when I posted it, it removed the spacing I did. So please excuse the lack of punctuation.

Screen NO BIGGER than 5.2 like current X (would actually prefer slightly smaller, maybe 5"), better camera, bigger battery, front facing stereo speakers.  Return the dimple to how it was on the 1st gen.  Everything else is perfect the way it is, IMO.

Oh I didn't even think of that! Good call, I wouldn't mind that either.

Not sure I'd like that.  Curious how volume controls on the left would be more convenient for you (guessing our hands are very different sizes, though).
