Re: MotoMaker 2nd Gen - Site Problem

2014-10-03, 15:47 PM

Noticed more website issues today that have been there since I discovered the first.  I did not realize that there where menus at the top of the motorola site until I was on my mac.  Turns out they work for me on Chrome for mac, but not on chome using win7 or 8.1.

I bet most people don't even realize these things don't work, but never see the other content you have on the site.

Here is what I see on  OSX Mavericks

Here is what I see on Windows 8.1

Here is the Java Version I am using, also tried setting security lower.  (NO effect)

Re: MotoMaker 2nd Gen - Site Problem

2014-10-08, 13:08 PM

I don't see where to start a new thread, so this one seems most appropriate.

For several days I've been trying to purchase a Moto X 2nd Gen through the Motomaker site, unsuccessfully. This will be as an upgrade on my AT&T account.

What happens is that after going through the configuration, account ID, and on to checkout it then will not process the credit card.

The issuing bank was able to determine there is a "CVC Code Failure" for these transactions. Is this a clue for the code monkeys managing the site? (No offence to code monkeys, I work as a sys admin. All in good fun.)

Fine. The CC won't work, so, why isn't there an alternative method of purchase available?

Customer Service at Motorola has worked with me for many hours on multiple calls and call backs, escalating the ticket up to Motomaker specialists, and then on to the IT department while trying to sort this out.

Several times it has been suggested to get a Motomaker card from an AT&T Corporate Store, however nobody at the store is able to provide a Motomaker card for the 2nd Gen, only for the original 2013 model. (after being told they had them at the local store, then waiting in queue for an hour, I was told they were mistaken and don't have them after all. Only for the 1st Gen Moto X)

AT&T Customer Service is also unable to provide any method for a customer to purchase a Moto X 2nd Gen through the Motomaker site.

Why isn't there an AT&T gift card option? Or, PayPal, Amazon, or some other method available for someone to pay cash and apply it to purchase when a Credit Card purchase fails on Motomaker?

When will AT&T have Motomaker cards available for the 2nd Gen Moto X?

Nobody seems to be able to provide any way for me to get a custom Moto X 2nd Gen and I am more than a little disappointed about this, as this is the compelling difference about this phone. Surely, having introduced the Motomaker experience for the last version of phone, all the bugs would have been worked out of the system, and when the new version showed up in the AT&T stores there would be an easy way to use Motomaker.

It seems that this is not the case.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Right now there is no other option. We're working on the store option but nothing to announce.

Any chance you can use a different credit card? I'm not understanding why the CVC would error out... Did you ask your CC issuer about that? I will ask at our end.

It is my wife's card. The only credit card we have.

It has always worked fine for all other purchases online, for years. This is the first time we have experienced any issue in making a purchase with it.

This is a VISA card issued by her bank. The bank's customer service said it may be related to processing the PIN code for the card. There was no additional information about the nature of the error provided by either the bank or the Motomaker tech support people.

After several days of battling this, I would be fine having to mail in a money order the old fashioned way if that were an option.

Regarding availability of the Motomaker Cards at AT&T stores there is a thread in the AT&T forum where I am posting the progress made so far on that front.

https://forums.att.com/t5/General-Account-Questions/Problem-Upgrading-Phone-to-Custom-Moto-X-2nd-Gen-on-Existing/m-p/4113780/highlight/false#M207123

My guess is that Motorola will resolve the credit card processing issue long before I'll see the 2nd Gen Motomaker card in an AT&T store.

BTW, can the Motomaker card for the 1st Gen Moto X be used to purchase the 2nd Gen Moto X? The store has these in stock, but tell me they cannot process the order until they have the Motomaker card for the 2nd Gen Moto X.

If the older cards can be used, how would an AT&T store rep become informed on how to process the purchase?

I find it odd, and confusing, that AT&T and Verizon both put these phones in the stores, but only Verizon is selling the Motomaker card.

Thanks!

The eComm team doesn't know of any reason you would see that error other than a mismatch between the entered CC number and the CVC code. I know that's not helpful as I'm sure you tried it a few times.

Also, you are the only person I've seen reporting this issue -- there is no work being done to "fix" this, as I indicated above. Again, not denying your experience. We just don't have a path forward.
