T-Mobile and MMS

2015-03-19, 14:17 PM

I haven't been able to send or receive MMS text messages since Sunday March 15 2015. I have spoken with T-Mobile several times and gone through troubleshooting steps. My last call was with them the rep told me that T-Mobile was upgrading their network - increasing LTE speed. Enabling new frequencies and disabling older ones and possibly the (Moto X 2nd Gen Pure Edition phone) frequency my phone uses for MMS was turned off/disabled.

Anyone else having an issue like this?

I have tried "Messanger", "Messaging", and "Hangouts".

MMS does not work with any of these.

I am getting ridiculous fast LTE speeds (65.00 - 108.00 mbps) now but the lack of MMS sms is a non starter.

So I'm sure that Tmobile already made you check your APN settings, if they didn't, try and check your APN, settings>more>cellular network>access point names, check that you are connected to a Tmobile APN.

possibly the (Moto X 2nd Gen Pure Edition phone) frequency my phone uses for MMS was turned off/disabled.

Tmo wasn't able to tell you which frequency they possibly disabled in your area???

I'm not techie enough to say this with any certainty, but I would think that in order to enhance their network Tmo would not be disabling any of the frequencies that are common.  Instead they should be enabling less common frequencies and in that case there would be no negative effect and only a positive effect.

I have Tmo and haven't noticed any difficulties in using MMS.  I have noticed recently that I have slightly better signal strength at home though yes (compared to last Fall).

No. I asked and the rep said he didn't have that information. I was surprised by that too.

And he did not say they were "enhancing"  their network or improving coverage. Said they were improving "speed" of network.

Same issue with me.. But its random. I got a mms 879kb that wouldn't download at all.. I found online somewhere that it has a 1000kb limit for tmobile??. Showed up in my messages as received but had the download button, just wouldn't download even though it was less than 1mb. But I sent some pics to a friend (who was beside me) yesterday and he didn't get them at all. Then I checked size and they were over so I resized and sent the 3 again and he got 2 of the 3, but never the 3rd one, so I had to email. I think they are having issues.. His phone was NOT a moto x.
