USC XT1093 remains locked, can't unlock

2015-04-14, 0:56 AM

Is it possible to unlock an XT1093.. at all?

I have tried to unlock two XT1093 US Cellular MX2  and both always ask

SIM network unlock PIN

One of these was a motorola warranty return direct from Motorola, and the other was my home ph i used with USCC which they swear is unlocked.

Did i just get unlucky or is this normal and the XT1093 is unusable on any network other than USCC?

I've tried SIMs from cricket, AT&T and T-mobile

The XT1093 is the US Cellular version of the Moto X. I can't speak specifically about the XT1093, but it is standard business practice for US carriers including US Cellular to lock their phones. The only way to use it on another network would be to get an unlock code. US Cellular can provide you with an unlock code subject to their terms and conditions at http://www.uscellular.com/site/legal/mobile-wireless-device-unlocking.html

Yes, USCC was very accomodating and polite and provided unlock codes for both the original and the replacement phone.

Nevertheless despite that, and even after multiple calls to up-tier technical support...

the USC XT1093 remains locked, and wont unlock.

soo thats why i ask..

Is it possible to unlock an XT1093.. at all?

U.S. Cellular is a CDMA network, and you're trying to run the phone on a GSM network.  On USC's unlocking page, they say the phone is incompatible with GSM networks.

So.. does that mean that it is impossible to unlock the phone for use with any carrier at all even if they are compatible in any degree.

why would it even have an unlock screen asking for 'SIM network unlock PIN'

perhaps im only interested in the data ability, and not voice.. or viceversa.

I wonder if there's an APN that would allow for data only on a GSM carrier.  Can someone chime in?

wouldn't you have to check the specs of the phone to see if the right band are supported? If they aren't then it will never work anyway.

It seems that it has all of the gsm and h+ bands as verizon's moto X and a few LTEs. I know Verizons moto x can be used on (non-us) GSM carriers right away with no unlock required. So based on what you provided, if unlocked, this phone should work on a GSM carrier. What carrier are you trying to use it on?
