Re: Lollipop Factory Image for XT1060

2016-07-06, 18:57 PM

On the xda site for the 1st gen Moto Xs, there's a thread for a "stock" Lollipop flashable zip for many variants, including the XT1060.  I haven't looked at all of the variants, but the 1060 zip has been "debloated" to remove Verizon and some other apps, which you can always add back in from the Play Store.

I will say that I've done the flash on my Developer Edition, and it seems to be working fine, except for the usual unreliable response of Moto Voice in 5.1.

Remember, it's not a "factory" zip, so the usual caveats apply.

EDIT--just rechecked the site, and there's an option for an "untouched" version, as well as the modem firmware.

Bill,

Thanks for the info. I've found files on the internet that are "named" what I think they should be, but I bought into the developer devices so I wouldn't have to trust files hosted on file share sites. You never know! It's a shame the factory image for the XT1060 still isn't posted yet.

You're welcome.

I do tend to trust stuff that's on xda because of the full discussion forums that come with the threads, but of course that's no guarantee that the ROMs etc. don't have bugs or other eccentricities. FWIW there's a zip for a fully "stock" 5.1 for this device, but I don't claim to know how it was obtained.

Hey Mike,

I doubt at this point that they'll ever release the 5.1 factory image for us.  If you are interested, I have an unofficial version of the factory image which you can download here:

Please see our Moto Owners' Forum Site Rules for more information.

I can guarantee that it's legit.  After you flash it note that there is a very small subsequent security update from 2 or 3 months ago that you'll want to allow to install before you make any modifications to the file system.

Also, I don't live in India, I live in the USA. I have no idea why this forum thinks I am posting from India.

Check your profile - under personal info there's a selection for country.  No idea how it got set wrong, but you can correct it yourself.

The only truly stupid question is the one you SHOULD have asked - but DIDN'T.

I'm also no from India. I guess Lenovo assumes all users are by default...

Anywyay, thanks for the info/links. I had found an image file zip of the latest, 5.1, including the new little OTA update, but I couldn't get system.img to flash (error stating not enough room). So I just flashed the other image set and did the OTA to get to latest before modding.

Would be nice if we could get officially hosted factory image, but hey, it's Lenovo's baby now anway.

I'm glad you got it to work.

But why don't you edit your profile to correct the location problem?  Just for the heck of it, I just reset mine to pretend I'm in Hong Kong.  I'll go back and change it back to the US later.

The only truly stupid question is the one you SHOULD have asked - but DIDN'T.
