Problem After Lollipop update

2015-07-04, 12:24 PM

I own Moto X 1st Gen. I updated it recently to Android Lollipop. Now whenever I restart my phone, it says "Android is Starting" and beyond this is "Optimising Apps".  All this should happen only once when we update Android but in my case it happens many times when i restart my phone.

I have seen others report this. You could try a factory data reset. There is an app that is not optimizing right and so the process has to be redone until it finished successfully. Sorry about that. Hope this helps.

I did two things, and unfortunately I'm not sure which resolved it. I deleted a batch of apps I thought I'd never use, and then I got an update of Motorola Boot Services in the play store. Then after my next reboot I still got the optimizing apps. Then I deleted several more apps I rarely ever need, a d since then I've done 2 or 3 reboots and none have done the optimizing - - they were normal boot ups. So I'm not sure if it was the boot service update or if I happened to remove an app that was triggering it.

Most likely was an app that caused this.

Yes probably. Ideally u would have removed apps one by one and rebooted after each to test, but with reboots taking 20 mins or so, I didn't want to do that!

I hate to say it but if you want a sure way to fix it. It seems from others comments I've seen a factory reset with backup off solves this issue. I wish I had LP so I could try to recreate this issue but sadly AT@T has not released  it yet.. Or you could go through your apps and look for some that haven't been updated in over a year. They may not be ready to run on LP. HTH
