lollipop sms popup/preview

2015-07-31, 13:36 PM

How do you disable pop-up notification for new text messages, don't want to completely disable notifications but don't want the banner to display the content of my text every time one comes in??

Are you concerning Stagefright? You can disable MMS auto retrieve following below steps:

Open stock Messaging APP -> Tap upper right corner 3 vertical dots to get menu -> Select Settings -> In Multimedia(MMS) messages section: Uncheck Auto-retrieve

Since the bug has not been publicly disclosed, only the guy who studied this bug knows how to exploit security hole by creating specially crafted media file. Unlike wide open Internet, it is very easy to trace back hacker(at least at current stage) using MMS system. While a little caution is good, I won't worry about it too much for now. These security firms are playing scare tactics to get attentions.

Edit: Sorry, totally misunderstood your question, above reply does not apply

Back to your question, you can do this:

Open Moto App -> Tap upper right corner gear icon to get access settings -> Tap Display -> Check "Hide notification details"

No I am  not concerned about stagefright,  I don't want my entire text popping up in the banner every time someone sends me a text.  I  switched to chompSMS which fixed the issue but now I don't get the message icon on my lock-screen when a text comes in.

In your updated response when I go to "display"  there is no option that says "hide notification details"

Thanks

To get to the Moto display options, go to the main phone setting screen, click on Moto, then Display.

To hide notification details use that checkbox. To make ChompSMS start showing on the lock screen, click Select Apps and make sure you check the checkbox for that app.
