Chile getting it before the US? Ridiculous. (sorry Chileans)

I submitted a link to this forum to Gizmodo, Engadget, Droid Life, etc. hopefully one of them can let everyone know what a joke the "pure" edition is.

Did you hear back from Gizmodo, Engadget, Droid Life, etc about how Motorola is only updating its 'Developer' Pure edition phone through carriers and not directly from Motorola? The roms could have bloatware or other crap that we do not want, thats why we purchased an unlocked phone.

You should also tell them they are selling their phones on false pretenses - The Pure edition has a 'supported' unlockable bootloader per the warranty. However, they do not provide the system images. https://forums.motorola.com/posts/92d054a340

Also, Motorola is selling the Moto X with the line it will receive 'quick' updates.

I am not sure what any of the above means.... The 5.0 system image is available for the Moto X Pure Edition.

Please support the idea that the Pure Edition phone is updated via carriers and not by Motorola - that really doesn't make any sense. Especially since the carriers have their own versions.

Please don't report mis-information unless you have some verifiable source to support your theories.

I see the system image is available for the Moto X Pure Edition, sorry for falsely thinking that, I was going off an old post that was the only thing I could find from a Google Search.

Regarding your second statement, I called into support (I can provide case number via PM if needed) and they stated to me that the updated will only come via carrier.  Are you saying if I have do not have a data or cellular plan, the phone will still update via WiFi?

Thank you for responding, I will setup a Google Alert for the bootloader recovery images page to monitor for the 5.1 system image. I apologize if I sound like an *****.

All phones get updates via Motorola. large updates are always pulled down over Wifi. You should be able to get an update even if you have no SIM card in your phone.

The soak test for - 'Retail Germany (22.121.1.victara_retde.retdeall.en.DE), Retail France (22.121.1.victara_reteu.reteuall.en.EU retfr) and Retail India (22.121.1.victara_reteu.reteuall.en.EU retin)' seems to be taking longer than others.

Were there any bugs discovered in the firmware for these models or is the soak test duration longer by design.

Seen this http://m.gsmarena.com/android_51_for_both_1st_and_2nd_gen_moto_x_to_roll_out_next_week-news-12698.php

The Android 5.1 update for both the first and second-gen Moto X is currently undergoing soak testing in over a dozen markets, and if everything goes fine, full deployments will begin next week, according to Motorola's David Schuster.
