Motospeak connection error

2013-12-23, 0:27 AM

I've been using the Roadster 2 w/ Motospeak on a MOTO X for a few days just fine. Now when I try to send a text message I get a "network connection" error. I know I'm connected to the network because I can send the text manually. I'm uninstalled and reinstalled Motospeak but no joy.

There is an issue with the My Motospeak app.  There is a thread on the Raz M forum here.  There are also threads on the accessories forum & headset forum.  The app just kind of stopped working for texts last week.  Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I just got caught up with these threads around the Motospeak issue. While doing so, I found a thread suggesting Vlingo (Vlingo.com) who was bought out by Nuance in 2012. However, Nuance has Dragon Mobile Assistance, available on Google Play. It seems more robust than Motospeak and so works with my Roadster; it does more than just handle phone and text. I only ran a few quick tests and it seems to work and provide a lot of verbal guidance. I need to test it in my truck to see if it fits my needs. If all goes good, it will replace my usage of the Motospeak app. So far, I've only tested with my Droid X (v2.3) and my Roadster. It also works hands free and seems to act like the iPhone assistant, what's here name.... (from my limited knowledge of iPhones).

Hope this helps...

John

That doesn't seem right.  What does warranty have to do with an app not working right?  Sorry to hear you had bad service.  I have not been able to get through to a person the few times I have tried to contact then.  I hope they can fix this app soon.

The other night I tried chat and was in que for over an hour, then called and the auto system dropped the call after a few min on hold. I have just switched to Dragon for android and it seems to work ok.

Just got off the phone with Motorola support and was told that since I do not own a Motorola phone I am out of luck the Motospeak app will only work with Motorola phones, even though that up until Dec 20 2013 it worked perfect. Maybe someone with a Motorola phone shouls tell them that the app will not work with their phone because they said that the app works 100% with all motorola phones.

Also noticed that voice navigation searches no longer work also. This was a problem a year ago and uninstaaling updates was the solution. This no longer works. I suspect that this feature is also resident on a remote server.

I tried (JTR) Johns' solution: Dragon Mobile software by Nuance. Seems like I have to tap the screen a little more often because it always gives me a choice of who to call, who to  text, or what Walmart store I want to navigate to. Other than that, the voice recognition is much more accurate than the "now flawed" My Motospeak app.

After trying several apps I have seen network failures in many of them so I have just contacted Android direct and brought this to their attention wondering if the problem is actually Android and not the app manufacturers.
