Preparing for The End

2011-01-11, 17:19 PM

I wonder if it would be worth the trouble for a number of us to lobby Motorola to make it possible for us to get map updates via the Naviextras website.

Question: What's the best way to lobby Motorola? The tech and customer support people are helpful, but I don't get the impression that they have the ear of the higher-ups.

Other than maps, I don't know whether any other sorts of updates would be possible, beyond the cool mods that SciFi2010 comes up with. Since the TN765t runs Windows CE, we may have some expansion possibilities that I don't know about.

Hey Dhave~

Check out this thread:

http://forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php?t=21861

I borrowed some of the content (and credited you! ) from your conversation with MotoSupport.  My suggestion would be to email customer support at NaviExtras, as I mentioned on the other forum, but I guess emailing Moto wouldn't hurt.  My only thought is Moto has nothing to gain by pushing us to Navi.  Only Navi does, which is why I would suggest going to them.  If anything, this may help Navi recoup some of the revenue that will be lost when Moto finally orphans us, and Navi can pick that up by adding us as subscribers who will buy content.  maybe therte will be something in it for Moto, if there are any contractural obligations, but that is not known.  From a strictly "outside" point of view, Navi has everything to gain by taking us, Moto has nothing to lose (but nothing to gain either).

Just my $.02.

@Thunderlizard: Your strategy makes good sense. So we need to focus our lobbying efforts on Naviextras, not Motorola.

I think that's where the best effort should be, but you will notice that I sent a request to Mark, the forum Manager as well, asking for him to be an advocate for us faithful users with his higher ups.  Mark seems like a good guy and I believe he's always wanted to help us.  Maybe he can put the bug in someones ear and Moto can save some face with their customer here.  Worth a try.
