Questions about Bing

2010-12-30, 17:01 PM

Hi all,

What are the best usages for Bing?  Is is simply a hands free 411?  Does it help with navigation in any way?  Similar/different from Google search?

Thanks

Yeah moondog, thanks for the insight.  I did know that Google is much more powerful and can navigate me to a destination, but the free subscription to Google will expire in 3 months. I guess I was hoping that Bing could work as a viable substitute in the future.  I'll be sure to travel with pad and paper : )

Just something to think about in the next few months......some of us renewed our MotoExtra`s for just the one year period, MAINLY for the google search option, and was $49 & change......

True, that we would of gotten more "bang for our buck" by taking the 3 yr. option, but with the Moto series only being out for less than a year, why take a chance on spending the extra cash at this point in time........IMO........

Agreed on the $49, one year option.  Makes the most sense at this point for sure.  Google makes your POI's limitless which compensates for the lack of newer maps in my opinion.  I recently updated my son's Garmin NUVI maps and the changes were not earth shattering, if that's any comfort.

BTW I did a route comparison between our new Garmin NUVI 1450t and the MOTONAV, and the MOTONAV truly blew doors off of the Garmin!  The MOTONAV had much more graphics and information displayed at many junction points that the NUVI did not.  Better lane assist and highway signage for sure.  When using the Garmin, and following it's lane assist feature, it assisted me right onto the wrong freeway.  In comparison, the MOTONAV (at the same juncture that the Garmin had troubles with) had additional "real life" highway signs and the correct lane shown.  I'll take these features over and above "up to the minute" maps any day!

The points you have listed are EXACTLY my reasons for keeping my Moto unit also, very well put!!  I did the very same comparisions against all 3 of my Magellan units, and the wife`s Tom Tom (forgot her model number...) and I deducted the very same comparison as yours.........
