able to restore a broken Atrix 4G?

2013-04-16, 23:28 PM
Hello at first,
i have a atrix 4g and i tried to update is localization to german.
The phone have being bought in Hong Kong and at this point, there
where no atrix 4g available with german localization. Sorry MOTO,
but the razr you only offer here is quite more expensive then the
4G, and i have no need for it. The 4G serves my needs complerely.

As we know, google is sometimes "our friend" and i found some apps
(cyanogen) to unlock its bootloader... I KNOW, doing this looses the
warranty but i dont care, because i trust in motorola's knowledge
to engeneer good phones.

The unlock process worked well, but after it happened that the phone
will not be longer recognized from the computer, and any software...
My next step was to become a factory cable in the good hope to
fix the broken bootloader, what brings me to my question:

is there any chance to or a way to bring the phone back to run
in factory mode or what ever, or is it nothing more now then a
paperweight?

Bootloader message:

Magic value mismatch:
%s
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel..
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002).

Thanks for helping

Hi P.aul,

That is a difficult one.

The only way that I can think of is to send it in for a out-of-warranty repair, but units from Asia or the US cannot be repaired in Europe.

Hence I don't see much future for this phone.

Maybe somebody else knows more, but to me it seems that the phone is bricked completely.

Sorry.

Cheers,

Nicole

I would suggest you check with the sources that instructed you in hacking your phone. We can't help with unsupported software modifications here.

My thought was to get informations how to come straight to
its bootloader: If a computer fails to boot the OS, its
bios is still intact; If the user has then a diskeditor
(metaphorically speaked) the disk is being accessible and
the code can be rewritten. In the factory the things they
do is just the same. I dont spelled its firmware is broken,
it's just the bootloader for the os (ubuntu) who has been.

Beside that i wonder that MOTO uses different flex versions
for different markets. So maybe we did'nt had to wonder about, that
the company have to be sold to foogle if they used too much
different versions as other use for all markets one per model.
So consumer friendlyness sounds different to those of motorola,
as they where abviously not able to offer per example a german
language change to a phone bough in Japan or vice one for Thai
user who bought their phone in canada.
Anyway, i need a tool a access its bootloader.
And i filed a judicial complaint against the creators of cyanogen
and those who run the website.
