Lost T-mobile AWS HSPA+ connection

2012-09-10, 4:33 AM

i have an unlocked Atrix HD from Bell Mobilty and i'm using it on t-mobile. first few days were great! i have hspa+ with speeds at par with my old sensation. however, ive been stuck on edge since this morning. i've been playing with my phone checking if tmobile has lit up their refarmed hspa pcs network in my area using the service menu. since then i couldn't bring the AWS HSPA+ back. Any suggestions or help is highly appreciated.

According to the Bell Canada spec sheet: http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Products/Motorola-ATRIX-HD-LTE/Specifications.tab

The bands are the same as AT&T - so the only thing that should work is Edge.

Also, we don't allow publishing of service menus per the TOS.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for posting the service menu.
The specs from the same page you quoted says "HSPA/UMTS compatibility 850/1700/1900/2100 MHz". Notice the 1700 Mhz - that's tmo's frequency so it should work with their faux4g network as well as other networks using AWS when unlocked.

It looks like you are right and the Bands line up, but there is one more piece to the puzzle and it deals with the carrier access code... i think it is a 3 digit code that IDs every carrier in the world. Many phones block certain ones.

This is why you can't buy a Verizon phone and use it on AT&T - even though they have SIM cards now.

My guess is that if you put an AT&T SIM In your phone it will work fine.

My only suggestion is to contact Bell or T-Mo and see if they can confirm. The other option is that their network is not up in your area.

ONe more thing - since I see some are using the unlocked Atrix HD on T-mo, the issue could have been related to your area.

But there are service menus that are not designed to be user accessible - making changes to some of these are permanent. If you did make a permanent change, you may have to send your phone in for service.

The only way to tell for sure would be to use a Bell SIM card and see if you get 3g. If not, then you messed something up.

I was thinking the same thing as Alpha. That service menu has been known to lock you into some settings that can not be undone. That's the reason we dint allow it on here since it can cause severe issues if you dint know 100% of what you are doing.
