Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

Hello. I've searched the forums and haven't found an answer, so I've decided to post.

I have so far owned two Motorola Atrix HD phones, and both have exhibited the same problem. The battery works about normally until it gets into anywhere from the 50% to 30% range, then it either jumps rapidly, or goes from 30% to DEAD instantly, and this is with no apps or Wi-Fi running.

I sent the first phone back because of this problem, and lo and behold I get the second phone and it also does this. I've looked online and from what I can tell, it's a bug.

The model is MB886 I'm running Android 4.1.1

Re: Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

Did you ever get a solution or help for your phones? I'm having & posted with very similar issues, it shuts down (no prior warning, it just says shutting down, low battery. It may have had anywhere from 76% to 24% literally seconds to 4/5 minutes prior) after it shuts down & plugged in, it will start charging at anywhere from 20% up to 60%.
I can't even get any reply

I just saw this post now. What have you tried so far to correct this? Also how old is the phone?

Re: Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

I bought this one Dec 2013, so about 13 months.
I tried 'recalibrating' the battery, running it down till it shuts down, charging to 100% off & on, while plugged in or not, wiped partition partition cache, uninstalled some stuff, disabled various applications, etc.
I installed BBS (better battery statistics), CPU spy,and a wake lock monitor,.

Re: Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

From this,I learned awake time was 99% scree time 6%.
Partial wakelocks had only 'NipCollectorWakelock 72%
Kernal Wakelocks
sns_async_ev_and_wakelock 95% 3h30m
sns_periodic_wakelock 95% 3h30m
smd_sns_dsps 88% 3h14m
PowerManagementService 75% 2h46m
Alarms-com.google.android.gms 96%
5523 times,24.2pm
This was over about 3.5-4hours, plugged into factory charger
Edit 02/23@01:30 1st 2 kernel wakelocks, the last _word before '95%'; I changed/corrected from 'android' to 'wakelock'; my memory is not as good as I thought.

I tried to edit to make it easier to read, but it condensed it all together when I posted it.
Thanks for your interest.

Re: Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

I haven't had a chance to google or investigate above, I literally just started this process after reading all day.I learned enough that some of results I learned, may well be my problem (hopefully). Initial thoughts indicate an app is not letting phone 'sleep' (awake time should only be slightly more than'screen' time); some wake lock activity is too active and there appear to be a lot of one alarm

Re: Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

Our family has 4 Atrix HD phones, so far 2 of the 4 phones have shown this issue, they randomly jump from 30% battery to dead and shutting down.

O/S 4.1.1.

Re: Atrix HD (MB886) battery meter jumps

A month later and no answer... Well here's some of the things I've tried:

Battery calibration apps. Tried two. Little to no change.

Fully charging then fully draining until; phone shuts down. Around the 30% mark the battery will start randomly dropping by 2 to 5% increments, but when it reaches 1% it will stay there for anywhere from 10 minutes to a half hour before the phone finally shuts down. I plug in the charger, and the battery screen tells me it's already at 29%

Ya know I'd just replace the battery but... oh yeah, they built it into the phone!
