I had a similar problem. the phone lost the number for the voicemail box, I had to call ATT, but they wiped the voice mail and allocated a new box.

I hope this helps.

If your not getting incoming calls first check with ATT and see if everything is good on there end. Then I would next replace the Sim card.

Called at&t as suggested and they gave  simple instructions for voice mail recovery after they reenabled my incoming phone calls to ring my phone instead of going directly to my full voice mail inbox. Had had a death in family and was quite distressed that I could not receive calls.  Was able to retreive all phone messages.  Still confused about how many voice mail messages new and saved result in full inbox.

Chuck,

Here's the text from AT&T's site regarding voice messages:

I use the Enhanced Voice Mail because it has a longer term of storage while also doubling the number of messages stored.  Here's a tip if you have messages that you want to store for a really long time.  Instead of hitting the key combination to "store" the message hit the # key to SKIP the message.  It will stay in queue as a skipped message for 60 days and then you can still STORE it for another 30 days.

Enhanced Voice Mail

Whether you're in a meeting or on the other line, you can't always answer your calls. Let voicemail take a message. Get the most from your voicemail by knowing its features and benefits, and how it works.

  • Never miss a call

  • Receive fast voicemail alerts

  • Personalize your greeting

Enhanced Voicemail doubles your message capacity from 20 to 40 messages, increases your message length by 1 minute and adds 7 more days of storage time. You can also send messages to groups and use member lists for added convenience.
