Question for Motorola about the future of Atrix 2

2012-10-27, 13:31 PM

First, I just want to say that the ICS update for my Atrix 2 fixed all those buggy issues I found to be frustrating at times on my phone, like when it would refuse to hang up a call no matter how often I pushed that darn END button.

I find the performance and UI improvements to be simply awesome.

The only complaint that I have is the separation of my contact list from the dialer.  That's just dumb, it should be fixed.

Other then that, I love my Atrix 2, and I have no intention of replacing it any time soon.

With that being said, I have a message for Motorola, that as an earnest customer, I desire a direct response to.

If you (Motorola) have no intention of continuing to support this great phone with additional updates to the OS, then you should do whatever is necessary to free the phone up to be updated by outside sources from the community at large.

If you refuse to do this, I want an explanation as to why.  Why have you decided that this great phone should die?

This is not a post about unofficial mods, it's a post about future support for the phone, and thus directly about the future of the phone.

They may fear the power and smarts of the hackers where that if one boot loader is released for one phone then that could be used and tweaked to use on all other phones of the same architecture and then mass hysteria will ensue and Moto will lose that supreme Matrix like control over it's own product.

Sure is **Removed** for owners of phones who will be removed from the current Moto picture line up and have that painful "Discontinued" label associated with them as if the year old Atrix 2 has now some how become an outdated, obsolete relic of old. Kinda like a copy of Fleetwood Mac Rumours on 8-Track tape. Dang that is one super amazing album!!!!  But Alas it's a sign of the accelerating fast pace technology driven times.

But I don't work or speak for Team Moto and I could just be pulling words out of my butt and putting them in Team Moto's mouthes but it sure seems plausible.

With the release of the Atrix HD, the Atrix 2 is seemingly doomed to be abandoned and forgotten by Motorola, it is not the newest and coolest anymore.

Come on people. Do I know have to waste time editing posts for rule violations all the time. I'm upset too but nothing is going to change the facts.

I am super pleased with the ICS Update! However, I am sad about the Atrix HD already putting the Atrix 2 as a thing in the past.  What about users who aren't eligble for a phone upgrade until next year?  I know I am not eligble for an upgrade until August or September of next year.  Also, is the tradeup program going to really last for the Atrix 2 until then?  I like that Marketing strategy and think it's a great idea.  However, I personally don't think it will be available when I go to upgrade.  The funny part about the rapid pace of technology is that next year when I go to upgrade, the Atrix HD will probably be obsolete and all of those owners will be going through the same thing.

Motorola does not care about us, only that you buy new phones, and Google has nothing to do with them
