Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

2018-09-27, 10:41 AM

Hi there,

I ordered the latest version of Moto G5S - Green Pomelo and got welcomed by the warning notficition: "Your device failed verfication.." (as in attachment). Well, I was decided to root the phone anyway, so that discovery was not that painful. However, I found the bootloader locked and when tried to unlock it using following data and corresponding key, I got invalid boot state error.

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

2018-09-27, 14:04 PM

I tried everything above and it didn't work. Besides, I'm experienced with bootloader unlocking and never had any issues at all, so this is the first time I have a problem unlocking it.

So here it goes. The phone I'm trying to unlock is a Moto E 2015 4G (surnia_retbr_ds)
fastboot oem get_unlock_data:

@richsplay

Try the data scrub tool above the unlock input box on unlock page, it works for me. The link is on this page under step 5: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

2018-09-28, 18:44 PM

Hello,

I am having trouble unlocking my T-Mobile Moto Z2 Force bootloader. When I run the command fastboot oem get_unlock_data it returns with:

...
(bootloader) Failed to get unlock data.
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 0.016s

I have tried many things such as, ressetting the device multiple times, making sure the enable oem unlock options is on, changing the OS of my pc, re-installing adb & fastboot, re-installing USB device drivers, re-installing Motorola Device Manager, using different PCs, using different cables, re-flashing the latest bootloader, and reflashing the latest firmware package.

When I run the command fastboot getvar all it says:

P.S.

I owned another Moto Z2 Force T-Mobile which I had been able to unlock with no problems whatsoever. I noticed my CID is on the chart of unlockable devices. I have looked for help on several different forums. I was reffered here by Motorola Support. I really hope that this problem is something that can be solved.

@vibraniumdroid

If the output of fastboot oem get_unlock_data shows unavailable/failed then service is needed. There is no way to provide an unlock code if that command fails.

@SixThe9th

From the results of your data it looks like your device was previously unlocked and flashed for a different region. You will have to contact the reseller for assistance.

@coliotte

Your request has been submitted. Please allow at least 2 business days and watch your spam/social email folders for a response. If your oem get_unlock_data came back with an error, it could take quite a bit longer for a reply.
