Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

Fair enough, I will watch my Gmail box. Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate the help!

edit: you're absolutely right about carrier unlocked vs boot unlocked; if i understand correctly, for certain carriers like VZW and ATT, their version of each phone is precluded from bootloader unlocking eligibility.  I only meant to emphasize that it was a direct purchase from moto, and not one of these carriers.  i realise, now, after reading about a lil more carefully, that the CID tells you that anyway, my bad. Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

@maks_R

I think i have directed to review the links before... you can't unlock this phone. CID, brand, etc. Don't buy Verizon (or other carrier) branded phones if you wan't to bootloader unlock.

If you used the data scrub tool, and you get the message "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking" Then it is likely your device can't be unlocked. Either the CID value is not valid, or the device is to old

See the CID value and what is valid here https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTOROLA-Android-Developer/Bootloader-Unlock-Problems/m-p/3222809

See this unlocking page for eligible devices. Note that older devices may not be eligible. https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/MS87215

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

Hi,

I am trying to unlock the bootloader on my unlocked gsm moto g3 through Motorola's website.

I am at step 3.

UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER

STEP 3 - UNLOCK YOUR DEVICE

You should have received an email with your Unlock Key. Inside the email is a unique 20-character alphanumeric code that you will use to unlock your device.

I have tried at least 10 times in the last 2 hours but have not received any email.

I chatted with motorola support on their website and they say they do not have any information, I must wait.

What do I do? Other users say that they receive the bootloader unlock code email instantaneously.

Thanks !

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

@alphadog it's end of business, 2nd business day, and i have nothing anywhere in my gmail, inclusive of the categories, and indeed the spam box, or anywhere.  you did say "at least 2 business days" so i remain patient, but i gotta admit, curiousity is killing me.

i'm not looking for an eta per se, just wondering what a resonable expectation for a response might be, and/or if this is where to follow up going forward.  you get enough people who don't bother to read the instructions here as it is, i'll settle for "a week" "a month" "a year", that sort of general time frame, with my understanding that it is not a promise of service deliver for me to get mad about. Smiley Happy just so i can set my expectations and not be like the kid the night before christmas "is it time? is it time?"  "are we there yet" etc etc Smiley Wink

thx

I don't investigate the issues or generate the codes. So maybe 2 weeks, a month? I don't really know. In the past it was 2 business days  at least but it could take a couple of weeks or more from some i have seen.

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

I'm embarrassed to say, I can't get a bootloader unlock code. I have 3 xt1527s now, 2 I unlocked and rooted, this one is a retus (whatever that means) that I bought used because I couldn't find any more new ones. The board gave me an "invalid html" (I didn't put any html in) error and clumped all my lines together. my getvar: (bootloader) version: 0.5 (bootloader) version-bootloader: moto-msm8916-80.10 (bootloader) product: surnia (bootloader) board: surnia (bootloader) secure: yes (bootloader) hwrev: 0x8300 (bootloader) radio: 0x1 (bootloader) emmc: 8GB Samsung REV=07 PRV=01 TYPE=57 (bootloader) ram: 1024MB Samsung S8 SDRAM DIE=4Gb (bootloader) cpu: MSM8916 ES1.0 (bootloader) serialno: TA09302JBX (bootloader) cid: 0x0000 (bootloader) channelid: 0x00 (bootloader) uid: 7FA6E90300000000000000000000 (bootloader) securestate: locked (bootloader) iswarrantyvoid: no (bootloader) mot_sst: 0 (bootloader) max-download-size: 268435456 (bootloader) reason: Volume down key pressed (bootloader) imei: 353338060583488 (bootloader) meid: (bootloader) date: 02-17-2015 (bootloader) sku: XT1527 (bootloader) iccid: (bootloader) cust_md5: (bootloader) max-sparse-size: 268435456 (bootloader) current-time: "Fri Nov 11 10:29:32 UTC 2016" (bootloader) ro.build.fingerprint[0]: motorola/surnia_retus/surnia_umts: (bootloader) ro.build.fingerprint[1]: 5.1/LPIS23.29-18.9-6/4:user/releas (bootloader) ro.build.fingerprint[2]: e-keys (bootloader) ro.build.version.full[0]: Blur_Version.23.211.6.surnia_retu (bootloader) ro.build.version.full[1]: s.retus.en.US (bootloader) ro.build.version.qcom[0]: AU_LINUX_ANDROID_LA.BR.1.1.3_RB1.
