Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

I thought all the get unlock data failures were the same, mine is upstairs# fastboot oem get_unlock_data ... (bootloader) Failed to get unlock data, please try again! FAILED (remote failure) finished. total time: 0.236s I had just done fastboot getvar all &> getvar4.txt to redirect the output of fastboot into a text file. Then I opened it in Firefox and copied and pasted. It looked fine until I hit the Post button. This time I've hopefully edited in dos line ends. Something on your side is remove all the CRLF - i don't know why. I can't work with this data, but I couldn't help you anyway.

If the output of fastboot oem get_unlock_data shows unavailable/failed then service is needed. There is no way to provide an unlock code if that command fails.

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

Oh, OK, only dos/windows uses crlf. Unix uses lf, mac uses cr. So there weren't any crlf, only lf. This works fine other places, I've used it on Facebook, the Raspberry Pi forums, Stackoverflow, XDA, etc., it's only a problem here. I'm looking at my edited (to use crlf) text file in a hex viewer and I see crlfs. I copy and paste c code with unix line ends on forums fairly often and it works. What kind of service would be needed? My cid is 0x0000 but my ro:carrier is retus. I don't know what retus is, I was hoping it was retail US. I just got it in the mail, it's slightly used but I bought it on ebay from a guy in FL I had bought a NOS XT1527 from a year or so ago. If it'll tether to wifi from my cell connection I have a place for it as-is, haven't tried that yet. Do I need to unlock the bootloader to load Ubuntu Touch? I'm not sure what "unlock" actually does here, bootloaders are not that unusual, like uboot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Das_U-Boot but if the bootloader can't be replaced while it's locked that's a problem.

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

OK, your board software is doing it all the time. That last post had 3 paragraphs which I had typed in, the board merged them all together. No copy/paste or redirect involved, I'm just typing in the form and sending. It looks normal on this end. If you were writing code to do it one way is to end a line on either cr or lf then if the byte immediately following is the other one, toss it out. 2 crs or 2 ls together mean a blank line was sent (like crlf crlf), so keep those.

I haven't seen many others have this issue, so if it is the forum, then it is tied to a specific browser setting. As you can see above, most users have no problems doing multiple lines and paragraphs.

I do new paragraphs all the time using (rich text selected at top) and it just works.

As for your issue. I am not sure what you can do or can't do with a locked bootloader. Most phones can't be rooted or the OS modified or changed until the bootloader is unlocked.

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

HTML mode, OK, trying that. And when you switch modes you lose what you typed BTW, so trying to remember. "fastboot devices" works, and getvar, but adb shows me no devices, yet fastboot does.

I'm hoping to install Ubuntu from the instructions at XDA" and his github page. It tries to do "fastboot flash boot /path-to the image of halium-boot/halium-boot.img" I'm not sure if that will work without unlocking first or not, it's replacing the contents of /boot.

My getvar in pre tags

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

When i try make the proccess follow the Motorola guide a pop-up windows say me "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking" but my phone is in the list of supported devices.

This is my unlock data 3A15480019308780#5A593232345A4A364442004D6F746F205A330000#93E5A06D7B1C59B09134681B7681CD96D7B91BDF#DA02EAD5000000000000000000000000

Re: Bootloader Unlock Problems?

Interesting, I've been trying to figure out what the carrier retus is on the one I have (in the US).  Khyatish posts from India and has a carrier of retin.  I don't have the answer but the ret part is probably retail or return.  And I did a getvar on one I've already unlocked and cid is 0x0009 (my retus one is 0x0000).

Again I get an invalid HTML error and I didn't use any HTML. I am now. But there isn't a newline in HTML, you use a BR tag (or p) so that would explain running lines together. But I think this board has a problem with unix line ends.
