USB/SD Card "Disconnect"

2012-09-21, 12:31 PM

In past devices, when the Micro USB cord is connected to phone and a computer, there was a way to connect and disconnect this in the software, prior to disconnecting the physical cord. When a cord is plugged into the Electrify 2, you can choose how the connection is handled (File transfer versus media transfer versus camera/photo transfer). Is there a way to disconnect the connection in the software prior to removing the cable?

Switching to camera mode effectively terminates the AFT/MTP and Mass Storage modes and allows the device to charge only without affecting debug or mount status.

I'm not sure why they added "camera" and took away "charge" but it's basically the same thing.

Do you have Motorola USB drivers installed on your PC?

Yes. The drivers from the phone have all downloaded onto the computer. To clarify, i'm lookinfg for the ability to turn "off" the usb/sd card connection on the phone itself.

Ok, I hooked up the Micro USB Cable to my phone (that is connected to the computer) and even after switching to the Camera connection, the computer still shows a connection to the memory in the phone.

The reason I'm suspect of this, is that there is picture, video and audio data that got corrupted on my phone. I'd like to prevent that from happening again. Thoughts?

I've not seen this before. You think the USB connection somehow corrupted files on your phone?

Please do not PM me - if you have issues, search the forums for threads on your topic and post there, or start a new thread. Thanks!

@F1JJR

Have you installed MotoCast that came up the first time you connected your phone to your PC?
