Re: Android 4.4 KitKat?

I couldn’t be more disappointed in how Motorola and US Cellular handled this situation. It was on October 31, 2013 (over 13 months ago) when it was announced that this and other Motorola phones would be updated. I don’t think anyone would say it’s reasonable to have something like this take anywhere near this long – especially for a device that the carriers encourage keeping for only two years. Best I can tell, the other carriers’ devices that were promised updates got theirs months ago. The Verizon XT907 Razr M sibling phone got it’s 4.4 update last May (seven months ago).

The actual off-contract cost of this phone was about $600. I didn’t feel that I got appropriate service after the sale for a device that cost this much, especially when I was led to believe one thing and didn’t get it.

It’s frustrating to see this trend occurring on other Motorola US Cellular phones as well. The Moto X 2013 is stuck on 4.4.2, whereas most if not all other carrier’s Moto X 2013s have been upgraded to months ago 4.4.4 and will probably get 5/Lollipop as well.

It’s impossible to know where fault lies because neither Motorola nor US Cellular communicate on this matter.

US Cellular lost a customer of 18 years and two lines of service due largely to the way this was handled. This is the second Android phone model that I’ve had with US Cellular that didn’t get the attention it should. I ported my numbers to an MVNO a few weeks back with a couple of LG Nexus 5 devices. I have bittersweet feelings about it because both Motorola Mobility and US Cellular have been good companies in the past but are floundering in regards to keeping customers in-the-know and happy that prioritize having updated devices.

I am once again sorely disappointed in Motorola and US Cellular. Yet again, as it was with the original Electrify, an update has been promised and not delivered. And so, yet again, I will be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau. If Motorola wants to compensate me for this phone I will consider it, but they will need to beat the going rate on Craigslist and Swappa to make me happy this time.

I am also disappointed in how this has been Handled thus far. I have been waiting for this update for some time now. As Motorola seems to place this promised update on the back burner, I shall place Motorola on the back burner. I am seriously considering LG or Samsung devices from here on out. They seem to be supported better, at this time, than Moto phones on U.S. Cellular. I am a big fan of Moto's pure android feel, and phone designs, but I would rather deal with Touchwiz and bloatware, than to not get promised updates. This update will probably be dropped soon, If it hasn't been already, as Moto has "newer" and "better" phones that they want to promote now. Why fulfill old promises when you can draw new people in, to the new phones. Very disappointed with all of this. I got updates regularly for my previous Samsung phone with USCC. To everyone else on this thread,

Hope you had happy holidays,

folks you might as well face it if you want updates you will have to do one of two things or both , 1 change carriers 2 buy something besides a Motorola i myself went to Verizon and bought a LG but my M is still active what they offered me for a trade in was not realistic so i kept it. The other conclusion which many of you have stated is that 15 months ago they came out and said we would get the update. All Verizon phones have had it for months which leads me to belive we will never see it, as far as Mark saying as soon as the T's are crossed and the I;s are dotted they will release it they have had enough tiime to write a book.

Guess they left again must be working on Lollipop instead they would be better off just to come out and say it is cancelled

To everyone still concerned enough to read this thread. I have filed two separate complaints with the Better Business Bureau, one against US Cellular and one against Motorola. Though nothing has come from it yet, this may be the only way to get their attention. US Cellular has denied all responsibility and laid all blame for the delay on Motorola. So for any moderators that may read this, if you have any evidence to the contrary that you would like to share, I would be grateful.
