Electrify M: Deleting Partner Bookmarks

2013-03-08, 4:30 AM

I just got my phone, and I'm pretty offended that there's a bunch of bookmarks already on the phone that I can't delete!  With other bookmarks, a long touch brings up a delete option.  The ones in the Partner Bookmarks seem to have this disabled.

If I don't figure out how to get rid of them without rooting the phone, I guess I'll return the phone and go back to my old HTC.

Sorry, I didn't realize it could be anything but Chrome.  Anyway, when I start the Chrome browser, it opens showing the partner bookmarks, which are things such as MSNBC, Fox Sports, etc. none of which I would ever click, and I don't want them on "my" phone.

They do stay in the Partner Bookmarks folder.

Try tapping on the "Mobile bookmarks" tab on the upper left corner of that screen.  Then tap the six squares icon at the bottom of the screen, this goes recently opened pages icons. Next time you go to Bookmarks, it should show the last screen of Mobile bookmarks and only the folder icon of Partner Bookmarks, now the unwanted list is not directly viewed. Only any new saved bookmarks.

As you pointed out, long press on any new bookmarks edit or delete them.

  • It appears the the Partner Bookmarks folder is just part of the software package at this time. You can always try other browsers, I need Firefox to open some secure Medical sites properly that I use.

Then I guess I'm returning the phone.  I don't need someone telling me what I should look at.

US Cellular is one of the Bookmarks icons, so it probably is the same on most of the newer US Cellular products as part of there software overlay to phones they sell.

I realize it's probably US Cellular's handiwork.  I've complained to them as well, along with Google.

Verizon phones have something similar. I haven't checked it out, but I imagine if one used another browser it could be avoided.

Please do not PM me - if you have issues, search the forums for threads on your topic and post there, or start a new thread. Thanks!
