Electrify: ICS Upgrade

2012-04-17, 23:34 PM

Does anyone have any specific news, other than that Motorola has the phone in the planning/evaluation category, regarding the Electrify getting ICS?

Nothing. On the flipside samsung is releaseing ics's like its a Ice cream truck sale. Moto needs to get their act together and find some faster ways to get it to us. This wifi bug on my phone is getting anoying. Sometimes hangs on obtaining ip address. Turns out it's a software bug. Really don't want to do a fr. I could use the battery life improvements of ics also. Wink

Maybe Motorola is wise as to wait it out (as far as pushing all phones towards ICS) ,as many apps are incompatible with ICS as lots of software we run today,

My brother which has the SG2 is running ICS and has had some trouble closing a few of his apps he say's that some of them hang when closing ,and he is already looking for a more stable beta build ? So maybe we should wait a while longer for ICS and let ICS and apps play catch - up.

Sorry to be the kill joy, but I've not seeing it. Where are you finding this information?

According to Motorola's software update page https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c, the Electrify is still stuck in Phase 1 "Evaluation and Planing". Under the description of Phase 1 it says "Please note that some products that enter the Evaluation and Planning phase may not complete the upgrade cycle." Meaning, that it is not guaranteed that the Electrify will actually get ICS!!! The Electrify's sister phone the Photon is in the development phase with an expected rollout in the forth quarter, so it is likely (but not guaranteed) that the Electrify will get ICS.

However, if phones that are further along in the update process will not be updated until the forth quarter of this year, it seens unlikely that the Electrify will get the update before 2013. I will be able to get a new phone in the first quarter 2013. It will be interesting to see if the update comes just before or after I get a new phone.
