Navigator Deluxe

2011-12-28, 13:49 PM

From what I can tell, US Cellular is offering this app for its customers, but when I go into the market, it says the app is incompatible with my device.

Anyone else got this to install?

Have you tried contacting US Cell on this? Maybe the version in the Market is not the same as the version that they are offering?

Thanks,

J

J is correct.

The App preloaded on the Electrify is called "Your Navigator Deluxe". I do not find that name on the Market. It is a custom App for US Cellular customers.

This preloaded app is also not free to use. Most people uninstall it.

Google maps is free, and there's probably other programs.

I read there is a monthly charge to get it working, I never did get it to load. Uninstalled anyway.

dalamar, you are correct, if you have a non-smart phone with Easyedge (extra fee applies for non-data plans). Like what the Quantico phone needs to have the Navigator to work without a Data package on that plan.

The Navagator Deluxe if free if you have any Data package in your plan, which the Electrify requires a Data package, so no additional fees.

Remember to always call US Cellular to verify anything that could effect your billing fees.

Re: Navigator Deluxe

Your Navigator Deluxe should have come preloaded on your phone.  To my knowledge, it's a U.S. Cellular-only app.

Your Navigator Deluxe is included free (software as well as usage) with USCC Android phones and premium data phones (not sure if they still have those).

If you're still using a non-smart phone, then yes, there is a charge, although it's not for Your Navigator Deluxe directly.  Without a smartphone, you can only have data via the EasyEdge network, which is not included in voice plans.  Granted, it's been nearly 3 years since I worked at USCC, but the way it worked before was, you could A) pay a flat monthly fee for the EasyEdge service, or you could B) do sort of a pay-as-you-go thing, where you were billed by the actual amount of data you used.  (I think it was in kb).  So you weren't exactly charged for using the navigator, but you were charged for network usage.

Anyway, the point of the story is, if you're using a smart/premium phone that requires an extra data plan already (Android), then Your Navigator Deluxe costs nothing extra to use.  I have it on my Electrify and use it indescriminately with no extra fees.

Incidentally, Your Navigator Deluxe is a very robust GPS app.  I use it often and could not be more satisfied.  Make sure you stretch its legs before dismissing it.
