They gave to us Froyo kernel in gingerbread phone. Do you realy think that they want to give us ICS update?

They want from "stupid" users (lusers) to buy another Mjunk phone.

Fire XT is low end android phone, i have it with me. ICS requires lot of memory and Fire XT simply does not have the specs for ICS.

However moto has provided an upgrade that is 2.3.5 gingerbread for this phone, you can upgrade it

Fire XT is a great phone for it price loaded with features and worth it

ICS requires minimum 1 GB RAM, which Fire doesn't have.

Atleast we can pray for version 2.3.6

Would any Motorola developer be able to comment on 2.3.6?

@Moto_Lover let me just say that you statement is just a bunch of BS (noticed how I capitalized BS?), the Galaxy Ace and even the Optimus One (with inferior CPU) HAVE A CUSTOM ICS ROM THAT WORKS LIKE A CHARM. Also notice that the Ace has less RAM?. I own a LG Optimus One P500 too and I've been using CM9(ICS) for a while and lets just put it this way, IT BLOWS COMPETITION OUT OF THE WATER!

The deal here is that they want us stuck on Gingerbread (with Froyo kernel DUH!) on an low end phone to force us into a high end one, but what they really do is chase users out of their line, no wonder motorola is the worst sold Android manufacturer...

@sperm2008 guess what? IT DOES HAVE ENOUGH RAM, look at the Nexus S specs http://www.android.com/devices/detail/nexus-s

Advice: Root it, erase the FUGLY MotoSwitch IU and change it for a better IU, erase some bloatware and use link2sd, and voila a totally different and snappier phone, dont believe me just try it and see. BTW with Root Uninstaller you would want to backup the apps prior to the delete in case you might need a factory reset.

The most logical solution would be finally unlocking the darn bootloader and give us the power to do whatever we want with the hardware WE BOUGHT, it's not insane it's your right, like the owner of a car has the right to change the motor of his vehicle if the one he has doesnt fulfill his needs, WE MUST be able to change a crappy kernel and a poorly structured OS for one that suits us.

So pressure MOTOROLA all of you and dont be satisfied with mediocre.

Let me answer that myself. Even though ICS works on devices with atleast 256 MB RAM and 600 MHz processor, yet the Motorola Fire XT will remain on Android 2.3.

Updates appear here.
