went out and boutght Nokia N8 yesterday. bye, moto.
I spent about 2 months thinking between XT720 and N8 and then I went for the XT720 because in catalogue of Wind Canada and I like their plan
Damned GOOD choice ... enjoy the BEAUTIFUL pictures and videos with the best cameraphone out there right now
You have to deal with the small screen resolution anyway ... but no upgrade issues

I guess our only hope is that someone manages to break the phones bootloader... Then I'm sure someone will make a custom firmware with the very latest version of Android.
Here is one such project: https://www.droid-developers.org/
Hope they succeed, because motorola clearly doesn't care to support its phones.

I think it is apparent that the lack of responses on this forum from Motorola comes directly from the executive level. Two weeks ago I wrote to Dr. Jha directly to express my displeasure with the lack of information available and my hope that Motorola would upgrade the 720. I suggested he look at this forum and the Motorola Europe Facebook page to see how people feel about Motorola right now. As of today I have yet to get any kind of a response, not even a canned response. And since Mark nor anyone else from Motorola has added anything since before Thanksgiving I can only assume they have been told to keep quite.
I can't understand why, if Motorola is going to have a forum, they don't make any effort to respond to posts that are placed here.Obviously the people who post here are the ones who are most concerned with the direction the product is going and probably some of the more technically advanced users. I think it justs shows how little they think of their customers that there is no effort to answer our concerns.

I am totally disappointed by Motorola about the silence on this issue. As I just seen some people asking if they should buy XT720, I am now spreading word how bad Motorola treats XT720 users and DISCOURAGE people from buying Motorola phones again.
