Froyo on the US XT720 ?

Hi,

Saw the other responses on the "non-US" XT720 blog, that Mark requested the XT720 be added to the Android Upgrade Timetable.

Can you add the US version XT720 to the Upgrade list as well?  Desparately waiting for App2SD & Flash Player.. my freakin old Nokia 5800 XpressMusic even had flash support.... GRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr.........

Re: Froyo on the US XT720 ?

I know exactly how you feel man, I'm on cincy bell too and i had the 5800 last xD The milestone does have some flash support, and apps2sd would be a HUGE help, but honestly the milestone has the perfect specs to run froyo so i dont see why we wouldnt get it, also cincy bell may have something to do with this, same with the 5800 update which we never got that i had to hack to get, its up to cincy bell whether we get an update or not. but if the original droid on verizon can run froyo, there should be no reason why we cant seeing as how our specs are better.

Ive had the xt720 for over a month now and I haven't seen any flash support at all. What flash support are you talking about.

Re: Froyo on the US XT720 ?

The 'skyfire' browser (really just an add-on to the default brower) offers some simulated flash support to play videos from the web.  Still not a true replacement for flash 10.1, but better than no support at all.   Skyfire is available in the app market.

Yea I have skyfire and love it. Not really flash just plays embedded videos. I can't complain tho. Acctually I think it plays videos better than flash.  Videos didn't look to go with flash on my brothers Droid x. They kinda studder a Lil bit.

Re: Froyo on the US XT720 ?

I'm talking like basic flash, like being able to use facebook's full site. Skyfire is pretty awesome though.

One other thing, I was checking out the update timetable, and the Motoroi in Korea is getting the froyo update, if you didn't already know, the Motoroi is the XT720, just with a different name. Just like the Droid/Milestone. So if the Motoroi is getting froyo, then we shoud be expecting it.

i know the feeling, except with me my RAM gets eaten away like nothing. Im not sure what it is but its really making me mad. Quick question though, how long does your battery last on average?

Re: Froyo on the US XT720 ?

Yea the RAM sucks bad. I bought the phone thinking it was 512 since that's what Cincinnati bells site said and to get it and there's only 256!! I only have on average 55 MB free. On the battery question, about 7 hours. Not very good in my eyes. I have mine overclocked to 1ghz tho and I use it all the time and constantly have 3g running. I know if you turn 3g off it last way longer.

Re: Froyo on the US XT720 ?

Wow! my battery lasts about 12 hours, and thats with a completely black backgroung, hardly any use at all, and i even underclocked to 550mhz with 50vsl. Also the website says ram is 256 xD but still no excuse to only average 55, or even my average of 65. The website also says that the phone should last up to 11.5 days on standby. I'm seriously considering using my old 5800 just for the battery life.
