It's ridiculously frustrating to still see "Stay tuned for an upgrade decision" after all this time. MOTOROLA, get your act together!

I just updated my Bell XT885 to Jelly Bean using the Austrailian firmware and OTA update without any issues.  If you go to the Droid Developers website (just google XT885 and jelly bean, and it will be one of the first links), they go through a very detailed and EASY way to get the XT885 to Android 4.1.2.  I'm not a techie at all, and it was so easy for me to do it.  The phone works so much faster than before and virtually eliminates all of the aggravating lags that plagued the origial Bell firmware.

And there you have it folks. After stringing us along for a year, they finally updated the web site to say the Razr V will remain on Ice Cream Sandwich.

Never getting a Motorola phone again.

Just saying, that pink RAZR V looks really interesting.

You can force update Bell and Virgin XT885 using RSDLite. Tutorial is here http://www.droidevelopers.com/f430/14904-how-install-jellybean-4-1-2-your-droid-razr-v-xt885.html

However I'm pretty sure that update wouldn't work on my XT886 (notice the 6) which is AWS-Compatible version running on Wind/Mobilicity so unless I get some conformation that it would work I'm not really that eager to try updating it with the XT885 firmware. Bummer

I really feel this is rediculous because this is my third Motorola phone and all of the phones I've had had problems with having no updates but those models have only had update problems in Canada where their international versions get the updates. I've had a Motorola Backflip which never got updated past 1.5 (US got update to 2.1) , a Motorola XT720 which never got updated past 2.1 (Korea got update to 2.2), and now the RAZR V stuck on ICS. However the first two you could hack with CyanogenMod to get 2.2 running really good on them, but nothing for the RAZR V.

Not to mention you're overriding the device's security features to install software from people on the interwebz.

We rely on Motorola to give us software updates. Never again.

I think this has more to do with Bell rather than Motorola, since the international versions received updates.  Bell basically gave up on this phone only a few months after it went on sale.  If it wasn't selling well then they'd have no incentive to roll out an upgrade.  It is also an incredibly inexpensive phone.  I'm sure Bell would rather people buy a more expensive phone and only then will they bother to roll out the updates.  If you feel brave enough, or pissed off enough with your phone, go and install the Australian Jelly Bean update.  It has completely changed my opinion of the phone for the better.  Night and day performance improvements.
