Try the following. Do a factory reset. Setup you account i.e gmail normally. Go to system about phone and check for updates. You will get a big box displayed with the ics update. Proceed with it. For few minutes nothing will appear. Dont panic . I got the download bar after 5 minutes. Make sure you have battery . Better have it connected to power supply. Just coolly follow whatever it says after download.

 I also had the same problem i did the factory reset  and waited for the notification to appear but it didn't so i tried to update it manually still it says that my device is up to date. what to do now??

To make sure everything is ok, have you setup google account and logged in. What is your current version ? Factory reset may be needed only if you had completely corrupted your phone.
Anyway, just try at random times, u should get that big box asking for permission to install ics. Just keep trying. Which country.u r from, moto is releasing ics country by country as seen in this forum

 that's nice, potentially another partner of Moto paying to get it sooner.

Glad to hear the Motorola comms department is having a nice holiday.

Just one thought, Do motorola servers have a problem with exessive rain or the Jet Stream, this might be the reason we haven't seen ICS in the fourth world here in Europe.

It gets worse day by day.

 Well, as always - Motorola doesn't think about the users in Europe. It's a shame, they should have learned from the past. But it looks like that Europe isn't the market they want to support. They could at least give us a date or so. If you look at Moto homepage " ICE is here", ok were is it than???

Do not factory reset before getting the update as you may lose your place and have to wait longer.

You need to be logged into your MotoCast ID if you have not done so.

well 8 hrs since I tried my first attempt to start the download, just 3% so far. I think factory reset is needed.

If you have already started the download, do not factory reset.

Yes. Motorola device updates/upgrades pull through Motorola servers, not Google.

The only exception to this rule is Google Experience Devices, which the RAZR is not.

To those that have factory reset, make sure you have signed back into your MotoCast ID.

Thanks.

@servbotx

Oh is that so! Any way I think the download is now progressing at a snail's pace. I restarted my phone then and now after 3.5 hrs finally it is showing 22% complete. I think I'll monitor the download and if the % doesn't change for an hour or so, will restart the device.
